Why California Failed High-Speed Rail

And I am NOT talking about Beijing.

Go back and re read my post to that guy.
I m talking about change and how to get things done, Beijing is just an example for this point, when people discuss, people give examples.

I don't care about Beijing, the topic, YOU POST, is why California failed at HSR, not how China succeed in HSR. Open one and talk about it if you want.

.
Beijing had not much infrastructure a decade or ago, I m talking about things can change with good policies and hardwork.

Yes, there is no substitute for planning things before building, but HSR is very popular in France and Italy which have some of the oldest cities in Europe. They made it work.

As I mentioned, HSR works so well in Italy that the airline went bankrupt!

I m also talking about California HSR, I m not the only person who gave their personal experience about HSR in different cities, their are examples, you just pretend you don't see it, don't you?

Train stations are usually in city centers, unlike airports, so they are way more convenient.

You are not talking about California HSR, you are talking about How Chinese HSR work on China, we aren't talking about China, we are talking about US railway system, do China have the same amount of Regional Airline to compete with Railway system? Do China have land compensation issue as the US? Do China have a ridership problem?

Sure, it work for China, boo, good for you, you want a medal? Just because it work for China does not mean it work for US. Do you think no American ever ride on HSR before? Or do you think no American company not ever think of feasibility of HSR before? There is a reason why there aren't one in the US, just because you said it work in China does not mean it have to work in the US. Republicanism also work with US, do you want China have a go because I said it work in the US?

I m talking about how HSR can be built and how to make them efficient, above another guy also talked his HSR experience in France and Italy.

This may be another factor. In the US, the city center (downtown) is usually a really crappy area outside of business hours. There are a few exceptions in the northeast, but this is generally the rule.

I don't know about China but, in Europe and Australia, the CBD is usually an OK place after dark. In Sydney and Melbourne, you mostly see university students or tourists after dark in the CBD.

France and Italy have dense population density in EU, they don't have a lot of issue I mentioned. And the same thing applies, just because it work in France and Italy, does that mean it have to work in the rest of the world??

OK, This is the way for discussion. for this we can discuss.

. . .
Again, you are not discussing the Topic, which is why California did not build HSR, you are talking about how this work in China.

I on the other hand, raised 3 points, ridership, competition with Regional Airline and cost. None of you have any point discussing it.

.
Even if it tries to seize the land and pay market rate, there will be lawsuits. There are also environmental reviews that are required.

Government is not stupid. They will follow procedures in exercising eminent domain. Municipal governments do it all the time to build highways, subway lines and other infrastructure.

Lol, it's HSR and California , in the video itself it also compared California HSR with other HSR systems including China's, you should watch the video first and comment.

I watched the video. And you probably not.

The video said mentioned the 3 issue I mentioned and those are not the issue you are facing in China (It said on the video) and that is why it is popular in China, and not in California

There are only viable if the cost/mile is lower than Regional Airline, which is not, and that is because it will take too much money to recover the land to build the infrastructure, and it will have to invest largely in new technology with potential no bail out.

This is not a case in China, you can say "hey X,Y and Z work in China" and you can even compare it to it, can China do 1.3cents per mile to beat the Airline Industry? That is the main issue here, not "How China recover this" or "How China planned this"
