Why are Chinese netizens so aggresive?

Exactly!

Same goes with my Japanese, Viet, US and Indian friends. Most of them are quite decent , kind people. My best friend during MA was from Vietnam.

Aggressive Japanese, Indian, US, or Vietnamese on the cyber space do not qualify me to consider all Japanese, Viet, or US people as aggressive.

A species being with IQ slightly over 50 should be able to make this distinction.

Obviously, some people with lower IQ are still allowed to post on international discussion forums.

I say, I wish I was.

I would buy a second Indian maid.

Come on man, stop with the underhand comment, okay?

Wait, so the article have a total of around 50 comments and this total includes 150 comments by a Chinese??????

People who post on message boards tend to be self-selected for anti-social behavior, so you will naturally see more aggressive and negative posts across the board, not just from any specific nationality. Then there are second-order effects of being anonymous, e.g. Online disinhibition effect - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The accident is Spain was due to train driver going over the speed limit and iirc he was slightly drunk too. While in China a train stalled due to being struck by lightning (!).and then was hit by a second train.

The comments you describe offer themselves.....i never actually heard of a train getting out of order due to lightning strike.

in conclusion, really poor example. But we all know what kind of purpose your post serves, and those of the other "netizens" here.

also @ thread title: What Chinese netizens? Do we even have any?
Sorry to disappoint you but I'm not a 50c soldier. I just wanted to illustrate that for irrational reasons, the world is against china more so than other countries. When a train accident happens in china, people will make stupid jokes, but if a similar accident happens in Spain, people offer their condolence. When china made impressive progress in economics people say it is fake data and communist abuse slave labor. When japan made economic progress in the 60's people say it is due to strong work ethics. If it seems like chinese are more aggressive on the Internet, it us because you hold china to a different standard.

I think its wrong for you to be projecting all of this blame onto @Audio . Listen, friend, it isn't Audio who is posting these comments on these videos you're talking about. Lastly, if there are numerous people out there who have an issue with China or the Chinese, then one shouldn't clearly mitigate their claims simply as mere animosity and pure hatred.

Rather, one should objectively analyse the situation and wonder , even ask out loud, "what kinds of negative experiences did they have with Chinese and China for them to manifest such feelings...?"

No one here in PDF naturally hates China, perhaps there is an issue in regards to the policies of the Chinese government and military, maybe.

I for one, hold no grudges or even any animosity for Chinese people and culture. Why should I? I admire them.

All the best,

While what you say might hold some weight, in the case you presented it is absolutely useless.
In China train got hit by lightning, shorting the circuits (i assume), causing it to stall, and then another train hit it. In other words, the trains grounding system wasn't done properly. Which then fuels comments which you don't like, although in this example, i feel they are justified.
In Spain, driver was a speed freak, posting speedometer footage on facebook regularly. Inevitably, one time it just got out of hand.

#edit. not to beat a dead horse but, for that crash to have happened the rail warning system had to malfunction as well. ie, if a crash happens, the system should notify some controller that the track is no longer usable and he then diverts all the trains that were scheduled to use that track.

People are sheep. Easily channeled. Because they just don't care to go into the details.
I for one know that China has strong work ethics, for example, i like the practice of public shaming of people who come late. But on the other hand, the statement of (near) slave labour has some merit to it as well. There is a reason for so many factories in China. And strong work ethics, as good as it is, isn't it, or at least, isn't the only or most important one.

All the best,

I agree, it is irrational to hate any country, but people do it anyway because where you grow up, and the media that you watch ultimately shapes how you think.

I think a good indicator for how much a country is liked or hated overall is by the ratio of likes/dislikes on the youtube page for their national anthem.

China is actually one of the more hated counties in the world. There are many reasons, but I believe it is because the media is mostly biased against China. You never read anything positive about China on Nytimes, or Guardian, ect. If you read the comments on the youtube link, it is same thing that you read over and over again on major media outlets (Tibet, Human Rights, Pollution, Communist, gender inequality, ect, ect).

lol.....you're amazing

the obvious implication being here, the 2 million strong army of internet commentators and censors can click a lot of likes?

#edit: also, like mentioned below, you can loose iq while reading youtube comments section.

To be quite honest, youtube is known for troll fest. There was even a video page on Christian music videos that i was listening to, and posters (claiming to be atheists) were outright trolling the commentary section.

So, take everything in youtube with a grain of salt.

All the best,

It seems like your point is very typical. You are making your comments on China government, people and culture separately.

Could you please do us a favor to comment China government, people and culture to let us know where the 'hatred' comes from.

Thank you.

But of course. Government may not necessarily reflect the opinion and position of all Chinese people. And Chinese culture , definitely, has been in existence even before the birth of the Communist Government.

As a Japanese, I view ancient Chinese history in a romantic view, am in love with the ancient classical writings such as 'Outlaws of the Marsh' [水滸傳], the writings of 孔子, the religious heterogeneity in China such as the mixing of Mahayana Buddhism with native Chinese religion and deities, the musical arts et al. So you see, I can appreciate Chinese culture, and Chinese people, while at the same time be in disagreement with some of policies of the Chinese Communist Government.

谢谢

An accident is an accident. On the youtube page, most comments are not about offering condolences. Here are a few examples

"MADE IN CHINA.... WHAT DID THEY EXPECT!!!"

"Chinese taking over the world? LOL Little fantasy world's here.Chinese are hated in every countries they go.There are hardly any Japanese whores in China. The most of whores in Macau are Chinese, supporting their life after the divorce.Half of them selling their body with only $12, truly shows the low quality of Chinese women..lol Also, More than 20 mlln Chinese men can't have a wife in the future, and Chinese men are the most disliked race in the international marriage field nxt to black women."

"
Vietnam doesn't need a bullet train. It's called appropriate technology, people would fall off the roof of a bullet train. :-) Vietnam is rapidly becoming a world market force, Ford, G.M., Honda, most large electrical manufacturers are all building huge modern manufacturing plants in Vietnam. Makes my Australia look very second rate."

Even with the 2 million internet army, somehow the youtube video has a lot of dislike.

I agree with you. The media in the west is helping average Chinese to be more nationalistic. I am a fairly open minded liberal educated in the U.S. After reading some Yahoo news, I am getting more and more nationalistic, lol. I cannot help it!

This is really sad and worrisome. Average Chinese are usually very fond of the U.S. from domestic media. But when they get out and read comments in Yahoo etc. they see majority are blatant racist and abusive comments, they start turning into more and more nationalistic . On the other hand, the Chinese who don't know English tend to have more rosy picture of the world and think the world loves them, lol.

You can't be serious. The US media is uncensored and can publish everything from tabloid gossip to nuanced research and everything in between. There is no coordinated attack on China. If you are disappointed in the attack on Chinese GDP numbers, it's only reporting on Chinese leadership's thoughts. Here's an example:

China's GDP is man-made, unreliable: top leader| Reuters

(Reuters) - China's GDP figures are "man-made" and therefore unreliable, the man who is expected to be the country's next head of government said in 2007, according to U.S. diplomatic cables released by WikiLeaks.
...
The U.S. cable reported that Li, who is now a vice premier, focused on just three data points to evaluate Liaoning's economy: electricity consumption, rail cargo volume and bank lending.

"By looking at these three figures, Li said he can measure with relative accuracy the speed of economic growth. All other figures, especially GDP statistics, are 'for reference only,' he said smiling," the cable added.

---

On the other side of the coin, are you saying that Chinese media never criticizes the US? Having lived in the US, do you believe Chinese criticism of the US had any effect, either positive or negative, on American nationalism?

I think this comes down to a cultural misunderstanding, one of directed media versus transparent media. Since Chinese media is political by definition, it's easy for Chinese to believe the same about American media, but it's not the case. Chinese people should not be offended by transparent media, which attacks our own leadership at least as much as it attacks China. It's not personal, it's just business.

The Chinese media has lots of tabloid domestic news too. They have to make money and tabloid news catch people's attention. You have misunderstanding that the Chinese media is all controlled by the government. Well, we are not robots, lol. Of course, they won't publish commentaries like toppling the government, etc, etc., but when it comes to social news, they are very critical of the government because the public has no trust in the government and hates government officials, hates doctors, hates everyone richer than them. On the other hand, they have never lived in the U.S., so they tend to have very rosy pictures of the west. Honestly, I think the general public's attitudes towards social injustice are sickening. The Chinese media usually don't publish negative social news from the west, since those kind of news don't really attract attention from the public. The Chinese public that have never been outside just don't feel delighted from reading negative international news.

Whereas people like me have more realistic views about the world, about social injustice. However, when I read comments made by general public in the west, I see blatant racism and ridicule. Sorry, I cannot love people who hate who I am.
