Saladin's example don't fit here..He was a cavalry commander and cavalry don't even exist today More over, WHOLE spectrum of warfare has changed since then..so absolutely NO comparison from Salahdin's victory etc...Arabs still has to show talents in today's warfare..

Saladin first surrounded the whole crusader kingdom (A very wise strategic move of Zangi+Saladin), blocked the crusaders' access to the water at battle of Hatin (which was decisive factor) and yes he waited for the crusaders to become as weak as possible (a thing that every genius general would do) and eventually he attacked and just annihilated the crusaders and took back the Jerusalem----ultimate victory!

I don't know whether he was a great General or not..but he was a great leader for sure.

Arabs are good fighters, dont know why so many underestimate them.

They were lean and mean in the era of cavalry, their primary forte.

But unfortunately for them,today the idea of cavalry is no more.

Because of the war failed, Tang Dynasty stopped the westward expansion.

These states are not capable of keeping effective standards. Their pilots don't fly out on a patrols of the Aegean everyday or navies and take part in multinational operations or exercises through out the year to keep in line with set standards and meet their operational capability. Even their ideological approach to the military is wrong.

AFAIK Jordanian pilots performed pretty well during joint exercises with TuAF.
