Don’t know anything about cricket, but if a World Cup series is held for air battles - armed with the similar kits as in sports - insha’Allah team PAF will come out champion...

If you can indulge me... is it possible to find out Kapil Devs record at 88 tests.

I dont care about ODI

.
Indian team which has been continuously playing cricket endlessly is in no state to seriously contest here. No warm up games in England. No rest and recuperation. No desire as they have been amply rewarded in the IPL. They are here just to make up the numbers.
England is the team in form and are going to make it difficult with their preparation and home advantage for anyone else

Possibly.

That's why I believe Malcolm Marshall is the best test fast bowler of all-time.

Malcolm Marshall's test bowling average and strike rate in different countries.

Australia
Test bowling average: 23.16.
Test bowling strike rate: 54.31.

England
Test bowling average: 18.70.

Pakistan
Test bowling average: 21.46.
Test bowling strike rate: 47.63.

West Indies
Test bowling average: 20.06.
Test bowling strike rate: 42.50.

Malcolm Marshall was successful in all countries and conditions in tests. His test bowling average is less than 25 in each country he played in except in New Zealand.
He did not have a very good test series against New Zealand in 1986/87 which was played in New Zealand. However, he still took 9 wickets from 3 tests at 32.11 runs per wicket.

At 88 tests , Kapil Dev had 3668 runs at 32.5 and 310 wickets at 28.x
Not much to separate

There is a difference between Kapil Dev and Imran Khan at 88 tests.

Imran Khan test batting average is 37.69.
Kapil Devs test batting average is 32.5 according to your filter. That is a difference of more than 5 runs per test innings.

Also, Imran Khan's test bowling average is 22.81 from 88 tests.
Your filter is showing a test bowling average of 28 for Kapil Dev after 88 tests. That is a difference of more than 5 runs per wicket. That is a big difference.

Imran is clearly a better bowling all-rounder than Kapil Dev and the best there has been. He is like your ideal number 7 test batsman.

Best? Surely that must be Jacques Kallis.

From the batting all-rounders:

Tests

Sobers: 57.78 test batting average, 34.03 test bowling average.

Kallis: 55.37 test batting average, 32.65 test bowling average.

Kallis took 292 test wickets from 166 test matches. That is 1.76 wickets per test match.

Sobers took 235 test wickets from 93 tests. That is 2.53 wickets per test.

Sobers is the best batting all-rounder. Kallis is the second best.
Sobers also bowled spin. Unfortunately there is no record of how many wickets he took with spin and how many with pace. Kallis played in a more competitive era. Have to say Kallis is better.

I respect your opinion but I believe Sobers was a better test batting all-rounder than Kallis. He was a better batsman than Kallis. He was also a better bowler than Kallis and more versatile. He is most experts second choice in any test team after Bradman.

Although I hold Viv Richards as the best West Indies batsman and the second best batsman after Bradman.

In a study in 1976 the following sp

Viv Richards v Thomson, Lillee
Viv Richards scores were 101, 30, 98, 50. That is almost two centuries and a fifty. That is at a batting average of 69.75.

Viv Richards batting average is 69.75 as an opener facing Lillee, Thomson, Gilmour and Mallet in two tests in 1975/76. His scores were 101, 98, 50, 30.

Jeff Thomson was recorded at 99.8 mph in a study in 1976.
Dennis Lillee was recorded at 96.2 mph in the same study. This was after Lillee's 1972/73 back injury. I reckon Lillee must have touched 99 mph or 100 mph before his back injury. An example is the Australia v World XL test match in 1972 at Perth, where Lillee took 8/29. His victims included Sobers, Gavaskar and Clive Lloyd.

Michael Holding was recorded at 95.2 mph in the same 1976 study. Holding was faster than Roberts at his peak.

Roberts was recorded at 97.2 mph in the 1976 study. However, he was recorded at 99.1 mph in a 1975 study.

I reckon Shoaib Akhtar was similar to Michael Holding in pace. However, Holding could maintain his speed for longer periods.

I would place Jeff Thomson ahead of Shoaib and Holding regarding speed.

Andy Roberts and Dennis Lillee at their peak similar to Brett Lee and Tait.

My order of speed:

Thomson. His fastest balls touching 102 mph.

Holding and Shoaib. Their fastest balls 100 mph or just over.

Roberts, Lillee, Lee, Tait, Patrick Patterson for a few spells like in Jamaica v England in 1986. Their fastest balls just under 100 mph.

Viv Richards batting average is 93 against Waqar Younis in the two odis he played against him in 1989.

The Pakistan bowling comprised of Waqar, Wasim, Mushtaq, Qadir, and Imran during those matches. Imran and Qadir were past their peak. However, that is still a very good bowling attack. Viv was 37 years old and past his peak, also.

Personally, I think this is probably the most challenging World Cup of all the three that I've been a part of, because of the format," he said on Tuesday (May 21).

Never got to see Sir Donald Bradman apart from the TV mini series but Sir Vivian Richards was my absolute favourite growing up as a kid in the 80s, what a legend, love that guy.

I actually met his daughter a few times, told her her dad was the best lol

Windies youth now spoiled with dreams of going to 'murrica to play the basketballs, they were something else as a cricketing force back then. Such a shame we only get to see flashes of that brilliance now.

I think Viv a made a hundred against most fast bowlers of his time, including his own West Indian quicks.

Somerset v Hampshire County match in 1985 at Taunton. Viv made 186 for Somerset. Malcolm Marshall played that match for Hampshire.

Glamorgan v Hampshire County match in 1990 at Southampton. Viv made 164 not out for Glamorgan. Malcolm Marshall played that match for Hampshire.

Unfortunately I saw very little of Viv and what I did, he was way past his prime. The most destructive batsman I've seen in tests has been Sehwag. Could turn a test in a session. Absolutely destructive with an average of just under 50 - and 2 triple centuries and also a 290.

I think India's bowling is good, but Hardik Pandya is not a very good bowler.

Australia have their weak link of Styris and Maxwell.

I think England rely too much on all-rounders. Plunkett, Wood, Woakes, Rashid, Stokes, and Ali maybe their best combination from their squad. They lack a left-arm bowler. Willy is not very good.

Pakistan's best bowling combination maybe Hasan Ali, Shaheen Afridi, Amir, Shadab and Imad. I would only play one of Hafeez or Malik. Most likely Hafeez.

My Pakistan starting 11 would be as follows:

1. Fakhar
2. Imam
3. Babar
4. Haris
5. Hafeez
6. Sarfaraz captain and wicket-keeper
7. Imad
8. Shadab
9. Hasan Ali
10. Amir
11. Shaheen Afridi

I would play Wahab, Hasnain, Malik and Asif Ali if needed. Maybe Pakistan could try these players in easier matches.
How can you not play Asif Ali, he did enough in the English series to play in the starting 11.

Sehwag was an aggressive test batsman and he made two test triple hundreds. Hence, I do rate him as a test opener.

However, Viv made runs against all opposition. The most destructive batsman of all-time. Hooking Devon Malcolm for sixes at the age of nearly 38 in test matches.

Examples:
Viv scored 101, 98, 50, 30 in the last two tests as an opener against Lillee, Thomson, Gilmour, and Mallett, at an average of 69.75 in 1975/76.Thomson was at his fastest and Lillee was bowling very well, although he slowed down a little after his back injury in 1972/73. Lillee was still recorded at 96.2 mph in a study in 1976. Thomson was recorded at 99.8 mph in this study.

Viv scored 80 from 39 balls against Wasim, Qadir and Imran, in an odi in 1985.

Viv scored a 56 ball hundred test century against England in 1986.

Viv scored 189 against England in an odi in England in 1984.

Viv scored 181 against Sri Lanka in the 1987 World Cup.

Viv's test series batting average was 72.80, touring Pakistan in 1980, against Imran, Qadir and Sarfaraz.

Viv's test series batting average was 69.50 in West Indies in 1988, against Imran, Wasim and Qadir.
