It has been about 5 years since Sachin Tendulkar scored the first double hundred in the ODI against South Africa in Gwalior. That feat has been achieved five more times until now. We saw Chris Gayle and Martin Guptill make double hundreds in the recently concluded World Cup. It must be mentioned that Rohit Sharma has crossed that mark twice in the ODI’s. I think it is safe to say that scoring 400 is the new 300 in the ODI’s. I am starting to wonder if it is a matter of time before someone crosses the 300 mark in the ODI’s. I certainly wouldn’t bet against it. However, it did take Rohit Sharma the full 50 overs to make the highest individual score of 264. In fact, with the exception of Virender Sehwag, everyone else on the list: Martin Guptill, Chris Gayle, Sachin Tendulkar played the full 50 overs to reach their double hundreds. Obviously, someone would have to play a notch above them to reach the 300 milestone.
