White House terms India 'an incredibly important country' for US.

Describing India as "an incredibly important country in the world", the White House has said US president Barack Obama will continue to enhance the depth of the country's relationship with New Delhi in his second term.

Obama will consider it a success if at the end of his second term India-US bilateral relationship is even stronger than at present, White House spokesman Jay Carney told reporters here on Thursday, while responding to a question about the future direction of US policy towards India and the Indian-American community which overwhelmingly supported Obama during the November presidential poll.

"The president's views have not changed, both on the importance and value of the Indian American community and the importance and value of the bilateral relationship that we have developed with India," Carney said.

Obama who has famously described India-US ties as "one of the defining partnerships of the 21st century" has at over a score more Indian-Americans in high places in his administration than any other previous president.

Taking up a similar refrain, Carney said Thursday, "India is an incredibly important country in the world, not just in the region, and the President looks forward to continuing to enhance the depth of our relationship to work together on common goals in the region and around the world."

"And I think you can expect in his second term that he will consider it a success if at the end of his second term that bilateral relationship is stronger even than it is today," Carney said.

India does not need ' incredible' certifications from anyone on who it is .

Meanwhile, thank you till the next rift does us apart.

Then send Headley and Rana. Actions speak louder than words.

India should make blunt statements.

No one is extradited when they have been convicted in their own country. India's request for extradition can only come up (theoretically) when Headley and/or Rana have completed their sentences. Pointless demand. India wouldn't have even known about these two if the Americans hadn't arrested and prosecuted them.

.
@Bang Galore Nope. They can be sent to India by US officials for testimony purposes and taken back. India will be asking this as told by a person on National TV. He told that it is not that simple.

Another way is India get access to Rana just like it got with Headley.

David Headly was caught on CCTV camera mate, it is not US investigative agencies that did the entire job of investigation.

He is a Double agent, God only knows how many US Islamic breed agents are lurking around India.

Everyone is caught on cctv, no way to reach a conclusion from that. The cctv images were again gone through after the Americans had arrested him. He visited even after the Mumbai attacks, was still not arrested in India. Everything we know of Headley came from the Americans and from investigations after his arrest.

He was tipped of British intel agencies not US intel.

These Double agents are low level spies.

That does not qualify as extradition & would be no different from access granted to Indian agencies in the U.S. There is simply no way U.S. officials can just hand a convicted felon over to India or anyone else.

Headley was being closely watched by the American agencies but others were doing the watching too. In Denmark, intelligence officials shadowed Headley throughout his surveillance visit unlike in India where he traveled unwatched. The American tip off about an attack in Mumbai & specifically the Taj was also based on information gleaned from Headley who was playing all sides.

Getting them here will serve the propaganda purpose. We did great with Kasab's case.

Intel agencies work like that they are the ones who guide these low level spies and again they are the ones who will use them as baits for a greater cause.

Like pleasing the victim country by sentencing.

In my view he was given protection and was served well in US prison like a retirement home.
