Which way is it better to write in Chinese? Chinese charaters or pinyin?

Pinyin is stupid. Chinese language is not based on pronunciation but on meaning and characters. That's why our language has survived since dawn of time even though we speak different dialects, while phonetic languages even from the same common root split up, for example, southern European languages.

Pinyin that was created in 1950 is based on standard mandarin. Pretty sure lots of people still cannot speak standard mandarin. If Chinese were phonetic language, all those dialect regions would have been separate countries just like Europe. Also I myself have hard time differentiate between ng, n, s, sh, c, ch, etc, since I am Wu dialect speaker.

It's rather funny to see the guy from Tianjin wanna abandon Chinese to adopt pinyin system that is based on Latin alphabet. Coincidentally, Tianjin is the ugliest city in China with all those copycat European sculptures. Sorry for my harsh words.

The official dialect in Taiwan is Mandarin, though Hokkien is also spoken there.

Actually, no. And nobody in China do it or will do it.

Such calligraphys have artistic value, they come throughout nearly 1,800 years, it's part of history and culture, burned in heart of Chinese. Some kind of calligraphy could be worth as much as millions of dollars for now. Sometimes they even represent some spiritual strength.

Pinyin is even not a common way of writing or communication in China, we learn Pinyin in elementary schools for 2 or 3 years. Pinyin is never on an equal position as with Chinese characters, from both cultural and practical point of view.

Haha that guy said beautiful. Copycat buildings in a metropolitan city such as Tianjin remind me of those ugly pointed houses built by farmers built in rural Zhejiang, my hometown. In this aspect, I really admire rural Jiangsu.

Those buildings look cheap and tacky, not exquisite, elegant, or grandiose, just like Pinyin. But what can you expect when the city planners are red guard generation that were sent to rural wilderness for education.

Calligraphy, like any arts, is an acquired taste and grained in culture. Pinyin is just Latin alphabets to assist pupils and foreigners for pronunciation purpose.
