That would undo 1947 and frankly if was about regional trade only then we should have let the Queen rule us. No wars, peace, no defence costs etc etc.

No it will not .
We're a free states now and can work better for our own countries . We do trade with india and it's considerably positive trade but growth has not reached the heights that it could have . These two countries being too close still trade through a third party as dubai which is not causing any good to them that direct open bilateral trade can give to both countries .
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gravity_model_of_trade the gravity model for trade suggests that they should trade more for their own good benefits.

I agree there are many concerns based on political, religious, and Kashmir issues between both that would not give my wish a reality but still these both countries need to realise soon that it's better to concentrate on developments and develop friendly relations than keep sticking on the tensions .

Sometimes dogs need a good beating to make it behave. If she is a woman than she should maintain womanly courtesy. But she is not. Other peoples have a limit of patience. She should not test that.
And you, you are just as crass as that "Mirzah" dude!

This is a very romantic notion, to say the least, that South Asia would be to emulate Europe, without a similarly destructive war to let the populations realize that their rulers are in it for themselves and not their respective peoples. Given that the MAD doctrine now applies, I just foresee the present stalemate continuing for a very long time, unless upset by economic collapse of one or more countries first. May be then, from the ruins, a new South Asia can emerge that can develop.
South Asians just need to work on their poor mentality , no one keeps grievances for 70 years in their heart against a country .
Jinnah also wanted good relations with india amd neighbouring countries and wanted a good economic relations in this region .
You even serious?
I was in my senses when I typed that .

@Kaptaan The term Sub Continent would have been more apt than South Asia in this regard, Cos South Asia consists of other countries

On the subject matter many have mentioned Lanka but unfortunately it has been regressing in every development aspect lately Economically and Socially.. What’s ironic is the country was progressing even through the debilitating 30 years of Civil war

I have a feeling that Both India and Bangladesh, Will bypass SL in the long run.. Pakistan need to sort out it’s internal matters first, There is way too much emphasis on religion on state matters, Which holds back Human development

Probably some states of India will develop e.g. Kerala, Goa, Maharashtra, Tamilnadu, Karnataka, Punjab, HP, Telangana-Andhra etc. While, UP, Bihar, UK, Chattisgarh, W.Bengal are regressing. India is huge and vast. The present trend of rightwingers getting elected will only regress India's growth. India needs a stable Congress party to crush the rightwing hyper religious nuts and concentrate more on economic growth.

You really need to read about South Asian history then.

no one keeps grievances for 70 years in their heart against a country

Wait are you even for real? It’s not a relationship between two people where you keep hate in ‘heart’. India since the separation is fighting undeclared wars with Pakistan. Now proxy & internet war. 65, 71, and Kargil war, we are still recovering from the damage. Even if you win the war, it doesn’t end with strengthening one state & weakening the other. Both get damaged.

Good relationship is one thing & reunion is another.

The same Qaid you referring to, fought for independence.

I know about its history . But I believe in upgrading it's future . Move ahead!
I like the dreams of the future better than the history of past .

Look at us , how we're wasting ourselves in enmity with each other , how much money is spent in millitary , nuclear that could be proven as a good use to the economic stability , how our minds are indulged in hate with each other ... . If only we used these energies in betterment of our country , situation would've been different .
I removed hate from my heart against india , your turn too .

Come back to real world honey. :)

It’s not a movie or novel or drama. This is not how things work in real world.

And I never talked about reunion of pakistan and india .. I just wanted them develop friendly relations with each other and work for prosperity of their countries amd stop damaging eachother . Support each other in this region ,

Afghanistan, india, pakistan, bangladesh, China , Russia .. All need to support each other , stop pulling legs.

Things in real life works from guns, tanks, killings, .. etc .
That is why peace and trust needs to be restored. We all need to work on peace and trust instead of wars, machines, guns.

You gotta reread your comment.

We “all” need to. If neighboring is not being done peacefully then you DO HAVE to and NEED to secure yourself with guns & weapons. We are talking about countries here, remember that.
Also, keep in mind we are only fighting with the enemies of the soil. We are not even sponsoring terrorism to neighbor countries.

I don't think there will be much difference between India, Pakistan and Bangladesh.

Problems for Bangladesh is it's inefficient and corrupt govt. Insane amount of bureaucracy in the administration. Bangladesh has been averaging 7% growth for 2-3 years now. It can be improved to 8-8.5% after some ongoing infrastructure work is completed like Padma Bridge, Power plants, metro rail. But that's it. Bangladesh is the worst country in this region in ease of doing business rating. It's because of the complexity which forces the the investors look elsewhere. In order to make something work, you have to make it simple. But for Bangladesh, starting and maintaining a business is very complicated. Another thing is needed is foreign lobbying. Which sucks for Bangladesh. Unless administrative constrains are solved and foreign lobbying is improved, Bangladesh can't reach double digit growth rate. Also education, higher education to be accurate has a lot of room for improvement.

Climate is and will remain a threat. You are free to think that Bangladesh will be under water in 6 months. We need the climate change funds we get. However, if you read the news about it regularly, you'll see that Bangladesh's net land area is increasing very slowly every year.

BD, if it losses LDC status, their exports will take a hit
True. BD iis set to graduate from LDC status by 2021. And LDC facilities will end 3 years later in 2024. By this time BD needs to find a way. Lobbying..

You started with zero and your well on the way to becoming the hero. Well done Bangladesh.
Don't jinx it.

I belive economic stability is more important than the wars .
Trade with india can touch billion of dollars if we open trade with it. Our difference in GDP growth isn't that big , we only need right policies to take it up than India . Hate with each other has served no benefit. I believe more than Pakistan , indians need to work on their mentality as hate and ignorance is more rampant there , a third world poverty filled country with a stubbornness with Pakistan . I can only see them boasting but no work.. ..

what is india anyway ? And pakistan ?

Anyways, it's next to impossible to have such relations as I can conclude from the comments here .

From what I hear from my brother (honeymoon), and some colleagues who've been visiting (business as well as holidaying), Sri Lanka is already pretty much there in terms of cleanliness and infrastructure and general life style (admittedly in our own social echelons).

Cheers, Doc
