WHERE IS OUR YELLOW RIBBON

I think this is a much needed initiative that needs to be taken. I think monetary contributions can also make a difference. This is a small token of our appreciation for the people that out forward their lives to protect us everyday.

Is there any information about the number of children orphaned by this tragedy?

It may be a better idea to set up an educational fund for their future.

I could help them but I need to see where the money goes to, any receipt proofs? I have extensive experiences in eBay as well as selling many products.

Despite only small benefits for disabled soldiers, Pakistan's economy need to grow and it will get more benefits, think about it. Or borrow money from Eldhi foundation to support disabled soldiers. Maybe not great idea. Many businesses in Pakistan doesn't have PayPal accounts.

I really don't know what to make of your rambling post. Can you please explain in more detail what you are trying to say here that is relevant to this thread? Thanks.

Our troops have historically laid their lives down in our existence and have never been far away from confrontation since 14th August 1947. The sacrifices of many including their lives will most certainly NEVER be forgotten. In certain cases the ultimate sacrifice being of their lives. I think you will all agree Pakistan would not exist today without their bravery and sacrifices they gave.

I sometimes sit here admiring how much our nation has been dragged through and if I still would be sitting here as a proud Pakistani if our heroes hadn’t sacrificed so much for me to have the privilege.

Lately the saddest of incidents – the loss of the Siachen heroes has yet again shown the ultimate of sacrifices these souls make. Not forgetting the loved ones they leave behind. It is heart aching to imagine how it must feel like to lose a loved one in this way.

Most nations have what is called a “Yellow Ribbon Fund whose main aim is to ‘Thank you!” to our injured service members and their families for everything they have sacrificed on our behalf.
I think its about time we set something up for our own heroes and perhaps for obvious reasons call it the “Green Ribbon”.

Living 1000s of miles away it is frustrating not to be show and offer our support and sometimes our prayers are all we can offer. It would fill me with pride if I wore a green ribbon on my chest and wear it with pride. If there was a place to donate however small amount one wanted to donate I would gladly start organizing something along this line.

There are several serving members on the forum in the “Think Tank” brigade that have already voiced their appreciation of such an idea. This thread has been started to see if there is any interest from you guys and perhaps any suggestions in how we could move this project forward.

We must at all times be focused on what our land would be without the passion and desires of such brave hearts that have sacrificed so much.

Ultimately one must remember however small our efforts – unite all our efforts and potentially we could have a tsunami of support – and gentlemen this would make a difference to where it matters.
I will leave these thoughts with you to ponder.

Any sort of suggestion and input would be gratefully received.

Wouldn't it be better to want to live and work productively to help soldiers and civilians alike? That would be much more respectful I think.

It may be a better idea to set up an educational fund for their future.

This is precisely the intention. Schooling education and health are primary visions of the funds that would be raised. The response and PMs already have been very supportive and it may take several weeks to launch an official structure and registration of charity. The advantage of this would be of course transparency and a sense of secure knowledge that alls intentions involved are of course honorable.
In the short term we are intending to set something up which may have a more immediate effect on those that have been left orphans with the recent tragedy at Siachen.
If anyone wants any more info of wanting to know where they can donate - please email me or windjammer.
Thanks for your responses......

I think details of how to donate should be posted here as well so that more may be able to take advantage of it.

without a doubt the idea is very great set up a place or online and send money or any other form of donations even one rupee from people would be alot and this should be implemented so that people who r feeling the pain can actually do something

A few questions:

1. How can one donate anonymously to the above account?

2. Will the account accept currencies other than the British Pound, such as US dollars?

3. How is this better than donating through a Pakistani agency?

4. Will the ISPR be creating a similar account in Pakistan? If so, wouldn't it be better to wait for that?

My understanding is that this is a temporary measure. On para 1 I think the UK regulations on money laundering are really tight and there may be issues about accepting money from sources that are anonymous. On Para 2 I think there will be a charge for other currencies so it is better to convert to sterling before a donation is made. My suggestion was that perhaps we should all contribute something small lets say £1.00 per week or per month..

Para 3 I do not see how it is particularly. But the more of us that do it the merrier

Para 4 I think that is inevitable
