Where does India's strategic & defence relationship with Russia stand in a world of two superpowers

The sole super powers of the world, Russia and US will never confront each other. And China and India will also never confront each other. Having said that, it depends on what govt is at Delhi if a situation arises.
All these analysis are just guess job.

there are more than 200 countries. Not all of them are UN members. I used a ballpark figure.

Well my answer is, why not? Russia (along with the rest of the world) knows that India will never take a stand against America, or indeed any Western country in existence. It's just a formality.

Show me one sensible member who has said this here, pleas don't make up stuff now, India's foriegn policy has, will and always remain - INDIA FIRST.

but pakistan needs zero outside input to be a rival to india, china did not turn pakistan into an anti-indian state, it was that from the beginning

in addition, china is a far more useful ally to russia than india anyday of the week, there are no border disputes, and china is far more powerful across all spectrums than india, and both share the goal of balancing against america, the economies are very complementary, the situation may change in the far future where china becomes as dominant as america is today, but that's far off at best, and may never happen.

in fact india has no real reason to be rival to china either, were it not for the bad blood sown by nehru, if he had bother to negotiate the border issue would have been solved decades ago (zhou enlai hinted that the line of control then would have been acceptable to china).

on the p5 issue, not happening so long as india has thrown its lot in with japan.

well most are too small to matter or are dependents which has other nations to take care of things like the world bank for them. biggest exception is of course taiwan, officially called the republic of china. it however is in various organizations with the approval of the PRC and under the name "chinese taipei"

of course not. but buying us gear has nothing to do with international organizations. the us sales to taiwan happen because of the taiwan relations act which basically says itll help taiwan defend itself. though really the sale dont affect the balance of power at all. but like a ritual the US must sell something even if pointless, and the PRC must complain even if pointless, then a couple months pass and its business as usual.

Good summary. Only one flaw. Japan only has 100 million people. Back to my original point, when thinking of China, always remember to divide whatever metrics by her population to get a real picture.

They are, and there budget proves it. But not that rich. Japanese have more money. True.
But, value again. Wealth is what you can make of it and CCP does have a lot of money, they pay pretty big PLA and PAP budget.

India today would not negotiate on disputed land control by India. India only regard Aksai Chin as dispute. As such, India will not accept lac as international border. Any Indian leader willing to compromise will be labelled a traitor.​
