To be fair I don't think the Chinese establishment ever claimed to be all that. They are just in Africa like other powers for their own benefit. Especially the China of today who is even more capitalistic than some Western countries . This is not the Mao China who was ruled by ideology and feelings. Lol back then Mao's China mostly got involved in Africa for ideological reason and as a sign of support and help towards African countries striving for independence movement development etc. So I agree that the China of before is completely different from the capitalistic one of today, who is after their own self interests and exploitation of Africa's resources , in this regard they aren't much different from western powers, same game different method.

I think many Africans are also getting to understand this after their any encounters/experiences with Chinese companies/businessmen in Africa. I have seen tons of such complains from Africans in this regard. To be honest, I don't blame the Chinese here. Afterall every SANE country/government is out there for their own self interets and that's how it should be.
There's no place ideological/religious regimes in shaping of foriegn policy.
