and abt the download speed its different from the connection speed .
As the same connection is divided among 5 - 10 people .Like all of thn have the same Ip .so divide the actually connection speed with 10 and u will have approx download speed.
Like at my home i have 1 Mbps connection and at average my download speed is like 120Kbps +.

Really good speed.My Home connection speed test results are,
Downloadspeed:1.779Mbps
Uploadspeed:0.829Mbps

Here in UK internet speeds suck big time due to pathetic investment and outdated infrastucture. We pay for UP TO (that's how they get you) 8mb/s with Orange (a UK mobile network) but AFAIK have never got close to this in the time we've had but unfortunately someone has signed us into a 2 year contract so we can't get out for another 18 months. We pay ~£25/ month (~$40 USD).


+ it's ironic when I was in my Uncle's house in Punjab (a village near Ludhiana) we actually got FASTER internet (fiber optics) than most of the time back at home but they were paying a fraction of what we did (i think ~ $10 USD)!!

In India 7.2 Mbps (Idea netsetter). Idea speed is very good goes upto 2-3Mbps download speed on speedtest.net

In Australia 5 Mbps , goes upto 1.5-2 Mbps download speed on speedtest.net
