Lahori Kamboh, probably the only one here lol. Apparently my dads side are "mian kamboh" whilst my mothers side are "chaudry kamboh".

What is kamboh?

We also have three villages of syeds. In 18th century, an internal war broke out between two factions of marwats...syeds from bannu were asked to settle in the area that lies between two factions. This "syed settlement" acted as buffer zone between two warring factions of marwats. They use "shah" at the end of their names. They are only non-marwat people who were given such large strip of land free of any cost. Most dominant in Uttar pradesh and Bihar and some distrcits of Haryana and Rajasthan.

For us Jaat and Gujjars and Lodhi are brotherly caste...all are peasant.

Out of curiosity what is the "mian" supposed to signify? Chaudrys are of course landlords but is mian just an honorific title?
