UV lights for battlefield assesment
It's a a cyalume snap light, it's used during night time exercises so the directing staff/superior officers (who are normally sitting on a vantage point) can know where the soldiers are and what they are doing, different colours might be used to denote different sections/platoons etc depending on the number of soldiers involved. They are placed on the back of the helmets and cammed up to make sure the troops acting as the enemy don't see them approaching.
