Upgraded Phet to crash into Pakistan Sunday KARACHI: Meteorological Department said strong tropical cyclone brewing up in Arabian Sea is fast approaching Omani coastline and is at least 200 kilometers from the Sultanate, Geo News reported Thursday.
However, it is expected to roar into Pakistan on Sunday.
The furious Cyclone Phet upgraded to category 4, which is a dangerous sign; however, the storm is quite far from Pakistan at present and it is expected to lose its intensity in degrees below the Category One as it lands the Pakistani coastline.
Phet at present is apace on way with at 115 nautical miles towards Oman and is expected to thrash the Sultanate for three days and consequently will enervate to Category One.
Later on, the weakened storm will head towards Pakistan with lessened force of 34 to 39 NM per hour. The cyclone will pass through Pakistani coastal areas on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
In the meantime, the coastal areas from Balochistan’s Omara to Iran’s area of Chah Bahar may be lashed by the storm.
Subsequently, the cyclone will morph into windstorm to cause driving rains in Upper Sindh areas. And later on, the windstorm will enter Indian state of Rajasthan.
