Obama had promised retreat from Iraq.what would be the result if US retreat from Iraq? will Iran permeate Iraq and become the leader of muslim world?

I suppose muslim world are weaken because they had no leader nations like Germany and France did in European Union.

And what would Bin Ladin do therefor.

.
it would buy time for Taliban to regroup n Iran to directly supply weapons to Iraq and isolate US from Pakistan n Iraq.

.
Well i cant predict Much but the People of Iraq will be happy and they will love to say good bye to the Americans and they may say this by using their Shoes as well. which is a new trend in Gulf now.

It will take time to leave, but my guess is not as much ex-president Bush would have requiresd like 2020+. Obama will call upon the Generals to lay out a plan to pull out quickly out from Iraq leaving more responsibility for Iraqi leaders and he has also qlaimed to press Iraqi leaders to use the money from their Oil-sales to rebuild the country. What the Iraqis will think of it is hard to say. There are three main "ethnic groups", the Kurds, Shia Arabs and Sunni Arabs and therefor by my meaning three different opionions. The Kurds seems to be happy to gain more autonomy in their areas, they have not seen so much destruction either as the other two groups. All we can hope is that the groups find a way to co-operate. The foundations are laid by the US-led constitutions (which later in 2005 was approved by the Iraqi people) where the presidency is divided between the three groups. Moreover it is also added in the constitution that all groups should be represented in the politics. The parliament will have two chambers, the first one "Council of Union" will have 150 members consisiting 50 from each group and "Council of Representatives", this chamber will have 275 elected members, their tasks will be to approve laws and so on. This council will also have atleast 25% women as members.

The party-system is of multi-party system where there is no big parties, but several parties who must make coalitions to get elected (this to avoid one party to siege the power like the Baath-party who was in power from 1968 to 2003).

Now the challenge on the political side when US leaves is that the political parties are strongly influenced by ethnicity or relgion. Like small Shia-muslim parties went together and made ”United Iraqi Alliance” on the other side small Kurd parties went together and made "Democratic Patriotic Alliance of Kurdistan".

Now the challenge is to get over the past where mainly Shia and Sunni groups have been fighting each other to fill up the power-vacuum when Saddam was deceased bringing it to almost a civil war. Huge challenge is to trust on each other, but it is not easy when the major parties are based upon ethnicity and religion rather than national socio-cultural interests. If they can co-operate, the Kurds dont demand seperation and Shia's and Sunni's can co-operate and establish atleast a adequate democracy the country with its huge oil-reserves can emerge as a prosperous nation where their inhabitants have food, shelter and a peaceful life.

As for Iran, i dont think they have the will or capability to become the "leader" of the muslim world. I think it is in their best interest to have a stable and peaceful Iraq as a neighbour as Pakistans is to have a stable and peaceful Afghanistan.

Tell me what incentives does Iran have to take over Iraq? Do you think it is doable just as easy as you type it in your post?
Think about where Iran is today and what will be gained of this?

Also, many nations are worried over Irans nuclear program and humanrights violations. Iran is under pressure from many stands, mainly EU, USA and Israel. Do you think they will allow Iran to just "take over" Iraq? Not atleast the Arab countries who are not so fond of Persians?

the other countries try to pressurize iran but iran doesnt give a ***'s a$$ about them
and what would be better for the iraq infront of the world eyes?
iran to take over or "militants" [i dont consider them militants though because america has done a horrible to their country] to take over
i think it would be better to divide iraq into 2 to end the shiite and sunni violence
thats the most peaceful way out of it

I think Iran should make Iraq disable at least, because a mighty Iraq would be a vigorous adversary for them, refer to Iran had fight many wars with Iraq before.and I notice Mesopotamia were always the centre of ME empire,Assyrian,Alexander,Persia,Arab Empire. It's valuable for Iran spending time and patience to permeate some Iraq region, for people, for oil.say,Kurdish.

and I think it's strange for Israel attacking so hard now, maybe they are panic about something going to happen, such as retreat of US.

Do you know what kind of pressure Iran is under? They have huge economic sanctions on them just from USA alone, just because they show a strong face doesnt mean that they are not under big pressure. Think about it, without the sanctions where could Iran be today, it would have better of its utilization oil supplies. Have you ever wondered why the oil-rich state is constantly under supplied as something basic as petroleum? Try to find out how many oil refineries they have and this is just one sector. How many more years do you think Iran can carry on this way with all the sanctions on them, and they will probably increase due to its Nuclear program. Think about it.

To be a sovereign democratic nation where all three main "ethnic" groups live in peace and harmony and every individual have equal oppurtunietes.

Did you bother to read the post above about the political system in Iraq? Its not only USA who has done horrible to Iraq, please do consider Saddam Hussein also as a big contributor. How could Iraq be divided into 2 when there are 3 major ethnic groups? If there is so much violence between them, do you think they will agree on how do divid the country? Then Arab nations will support the one party and Iran the other, tell me how will this be the most peaceful way out of it?

I think, if Iraq becomes a full democratic country and follows the principles laid down in their constitution (read the post above about the political system) there will be a balance of power between the different groups in the country. The situation was different when sunni-muslim Baath party with Saddam Hussein as head of state was "representing" Iraq when the Iran-Iraq war startet. One out of three groups had the political power, showing that the war was not decided by the whole of the country but one group. This will in the future will be diminished, as I think the Kurds and Shia-muslim dont have a interest of attacking Iraq. Let us hope that Iran sees that a stable Iraq is in their best interest as they cannot afford to change the power of balance in the region right now.

the question is wat will happen if US doesnt leave iraq???
ppl who have stopped fighting bec of political deals which took place bw them and US will again come out and start fighting against the invaders.

ok then the country to split into three so the people could atleast be in peace
and idk if anyone noticed but u.s. has never left a country it had a war with
so there is very less chance of u.s. leaving iraq

What!?!?:what: U.S has never left a country it had a war with? Man, just about in 70 years, they have engaged in, Germany, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq in conventional wars and also minor enngagments and intrusions and there are no occupational forces there (except Iraq). They start a war, they make a mess and they leave. Now they are doing the same, in time they will leave Iraq.

And Also, isnt it better for Iraq to stay as a united nation rather than being sliced into three pieces? A state just for the Kurds could re-spark some serious separtist movemensts in Turkey and Iran for the Kurd inhabitants who also want to have a independent nation. And what would hold back to let the Shia-state to make bilateral alliance with Iran and the Sunni-state to make ties with other Arab nations, increasing tensions in the region?
