What went wrong for Pakistan in the Semi Final?

No Paten-er-ships

There was no way Indian could have limit us to 259/7 in 50 overs

Had our Batsmen played the 50 overs (even Misbah from start to end) we would have won

asad shadiq was really impressive... that kid has cool head on his shoulder..really impressive

This went wrong...

1 Pathetic Fielding

2 Very very Pathetic Captaincy

3 Careless and non serious attitude of Batsmen

Simple.:)

Mistakes of the Day in Order
1. Umar Gul
2. Abdul Razaq
(both were absolutely USELESS today. Razaq sometimes I wonder why he's even in the team)
3. Shoaib Akhtar (should have been there in place of Gul or Razaq)
4. Fielding (worst ever or what???)
5. Too many extras (bowlers need to be much more disciplined)
6. Batting (need folks to stick on the crease, rotate strikes, throw the odd ball for a boundary, most importantly be disciplined enough to avoid playing absolutely RIDICULOUS strokes like today)
7. Power play (have some sense on when to use it for God's sake)

If all these mistakes weren't there, and pressure was established from the beginning I got a feeling India would have been bowled out below 150 and Pakistan would be on its way to the final.

I don't write all this to be negative or hate. I believe Pakistan cricket has incredible potential and wish to see it achieve the success it deserves. But the mistakes and stupidities are just too many to ignore. Seems we haven't learned much from the professionalism of the Australians in the past decade. It's overall a lack of discipline in fielding, bowling (correct line), and batting, not necessarily talent.

our captains keep changing, younus was the best captain he was removed because of politics, shahid was soon to be removed, just 10 days before WC he wa named captain, your captain has years of experience, indian team plays more matches than pak team, sfrid has just some few WC days of experience...

now politics will again come to scene and afridi too will be removed

half of our team is young and inexperienced, damaged by serious blows before WC, is still under recovery process, our young talented bowlers were banned, our top bowling attack was removed just before WC, leading this dejected team to the semis is really a big deal and a great achievement in itself

pakistani bowlers have always been the best..no matter if they come from first team or second team..they are better than any other team's first class bowlers...but what you guys lack is indeed a captain like Dhoni and unity..hell even we do not have good bowlers but they play with awesome strategy :)

lot of members here are cursing misbah, but he stood his ground till the end. wickets were falling all around while he was standing helplessly at other end. had any batsmen supported him no one knows what would have been the result. in process of saving tailenders from facing bowlers he had to surrender 6-7 singles. now if those 6-7 singles are deducted then the margin was not much.

even if there will be the weakest indian team in history and the strongest team in pakistan's history paks will still crimble because of 'immense pressure', pakistanis must go through long stages of physcological check up before getting into the team....

esp the younus batting was like he was just beginning to learn to bat and esp infront of the weak bowling of yuvraj singh, he is such an averae bowler but took 2 wickets in the end..... even tandulker would have ot 3-4 wickets for being ultra famous in india

pakistan team must be goven the test status rather then one day because these players only know how to play test cricket where they make 1 run in each over(younus khan, misbah)

pressure is the same on both the sides...bothe the sides have good players who have a lot of experience,so the typical 'Stage Fright' think can ruled out.

The Indian team had fielded well, whereas the Pakistani team lacked at that point(mis fielding, dropping catches etc.)Besides,th Pakistani side really lacked some robust batsmen like Sehwag or Sachin, who can give the team a jump start, and stay on the pitch building up good partnerships.

pakistan built opening partnership of 43 runs, what more do u want, many experienced batsmen like younus and misbah played childishly, both missed so many bowls which lead to the demoralization, it was clearly due to pressure, the pak team took immense pressure, top players like younus, misbah and ul instantaneously failed, a real chocker...

I would have personally liked to see Afridi up in the batting order. He may have bowled really well. But,he is a batsman for the team after all.And a good batsman needs a good partner to rotate the strike and build a partnership.
I was shocked to see him appear so low in the order when there are no other batsman to be with him at non-strike end, apart from misbah. He is a pinch hitter, the role that is played by Yuvraj for India. If he had come earlier, may be he could have set the scoreboard in motion and made things easier for Pakistan...

As someone said , Had Pakistan play 50 overs without loosing crucial batsmen trying to hit boundaries, they could've won.

Bowling was awesome .

Batting was immature. Bye.

Sorry to say, catches win matches!

im really baffled, we dropped record number of catches, tendulker the higher scoring guy was dropped 4 times, by this the bwlers lose confidence in attacking..

and then when we were cruising with asad and younus, asad got out which seemed to be the complete turn around with result

and who can forget worst spells of dumb guy gul, who continuously got hit for boundaries and that experienced player had no clue how to bowl properly

younus khan, such a senior player had no clue how to bat and it was so stragne and baffling indeed...

our spinners did such a good job, along with riaz, but some of the senior most guys let us down

i think the trio of younus misbah and akmal should be retired to make way of young players like hammad azam, sarfaraz ahmed etc, these guys need to be settled long before any upcoming big tournaments...

afridi need to become an attacking captain and stop persuing defensive policy

Nice Avatar ....
