For all you Naval history buffs out there .... here is some food for thought. The following incidents took place during the cold war in 1968

On Jan 28 1968 The USS Pueblo is captured by the North Koreans

North Korea still holds this ship and it is till listed in American naval register as active service

On 8 march 1968 the Soviet submarine K-129 sinks in the pacific. There are various theories about the sinking of the submarine such as
1) It was a rogue submarine trying to launch a nuclear attack on the Americans.
2) It collided with the American Submarine USS Swordfish and sank.

One thing is certain ... The American knew where the K-129 sank and raised it in July 1974.

In July 1968 The American nuclear submarine USS Scorpion sinks in the Atlantic ocean.
In the book Scorpion Down: Sunk by the Soviets, Buried by the Pentagon: The Untold Story of the USS Scorpion
Amazon.com: Scorpion Down: Sunk by the Soviets, Buried by the Pentagon: The Untold Story of the USS Scorpion (9780465051861): Ed Offley: Books

the author Ed Offley argues that a Russian submarine sank the Scorpion to avenge the loss of K-129. Then both sides hushed up the whole affair to prevent escalation.

Two other submarines that went down the same year were the French submarine Minerve and the Israeli submarine Dakar. Reason of loss of both hulls is unknown. Both submarines sank few days apart in a space of 1000 miles.

What are your thoughts ?

. .
Well i was wondering if someone could connect the dots ? Was something happening behind the scenes ?

The wreckage of Minerve has been found today.

@Rashid Mahmood @Imran Khan Sir I saw a program in which tribute was being paid to a Pakistan Navy Officer who was on training on a French sub which vanished in the sea. I believe that was the sub Minerve whose wreckage was found today. However I cannot remember the name of the officer. Could you please shed some light on the topic.

Thanks in advance.

No PN Officer on Minerve S647;

Lieutenant Jamil Khattak PN Shaheed the only Pakistani was onboard Eurydice S644, that met the accident on 4 Mar 70.

He was sent for training on the French submarine.

I know his son who is also a Submariner in the PN.

The Dakar was sunk by the USN in revenge for the USN Liberty the previous year.

According to U.S. intelligence sources, the willful Israeli attack on the National Security Agency (NSA) intelligence collection ship, the USS Liberty, on June 8, 1967, during the Israeli-Arab “Six Day War,” was followed by the U.S. Navy sinking the Israeli submarine, the INS Dakar, in January 1968.

A very interesting read, especially for those addicted to MSM believing all the standard memes.

Yet it proved to the Israelis that some sectors in the U.S. military and intelligence community had no problem in killing 69 Israeli sailors in retaliation for Israel’s attack on the Liberty and the loss of 34 U.S. sailors.

Sub losses are rarely accidental,eg:the recent Russian Sub fire was Israeli revenge for the Syria defeat.
