Article 23 of the San Francisco Peace Treaty designated the US as "the principal occupying power" with respect to the territories covered by the geographical scope of the treaty, including "Formosa and the Pescadores." So reality is... the usa has sovreignty over taiwan

The treaty of San Francisco was not represented by Taiwan (ROC) and China. Taiwan later has to modify the declaration with treaty of Taipei. Also, because SF treaty renounce Shimonoseki, which refer Taiwan to the state before the treaty of Shimonoseki.

I agree that the dotted lines are not specified in the Postdam declaration. But Paracels and Spratlys were. As Scarborough is not part of these island groups, it should be deal differently.

I do not know much about Scarboroughs as of now. But Paracels and Spratlys are territories of ROC (Taiwan) according to Potsdam Declaration.

Japan abrogated the treaty of Taipei to satisfy the Chinese communist. But Taiwan was an independent country. In any regard, SF and Taipei treaty does not address the Spratly and Paracels. Its declared in the Potsdam declaration.
