I am struggling to understand the purpose of SARRC? I think it should be disbanded. Any thoughts?
Pakistan is free to leave the SAARC on its own what I don't understand is why Pakistan has to stay in SAARC if it sees it as a useless organization.
Yes. BJP is trying to bypass the SAARC secretariat....probably as a stealth way of building an Akhand Bharat. If it continues then Pakistan should leave. Bangladesh and Afghanistan are free to join the Akhand Bharat.....but they should know that the future of Muslims in this BJP/RSS construct is not a happy one.It was designed to create AkhandBharat by stealth....
Now it is a DeadDonkey lying on the way side... legs up and belly swollen.
The only supranational organisation that is effective is the European Union.
Out of all the other supranational organisations, I would say that the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the African Union (AU) are currently the only organisations that make an effort to achieve further integration.
The other organisations, such as SAARC, are nothing more than talking shops.
Besides, I do not think that India and Pakistan will be able to cooperate, since every form of cooperation between them is politicised by their politicians and media.
Therefore, regarding regional cooperation, India should work with Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, The Maldives and Myanmar (which I think they are already doing)
And Pakistan should work with Afghanistan, Iran and China (which I also think they are already doing).
That leaves SAARC with no real function or mandate.
So, the only future for SAARC is no future.
The organisation should be disbanded and the only ones that will cry about this are the worthless bureacrats that were working there, but did not achieve anything in all those years, yet are now sad that they will not be getting paid anymore.

Finally, 10 years later an indian that actually talks sense on PDF........been a long time coming......
Very rare for an indian to talk sense.
Then I have to disappoint you both, because I am not an Indian.
I was born in Surinam and live in the Netherlands.
My ancestors though, came from what is now India and Nepal, and were brought to work as labourers on the land in Surinam.
However, I still stand by what I said about SAARC but as a non-South Asian observer.

Pakistan should quit SAARC. It will make things easier for both Pakistan and SAARC.
