We dont need to be integrated by religion. Nationalism and common good is our integrating factor. India has around 180 Million Muslims living peacefully and in various strata of the Economic Pyramid.
Insecurity among minorities is nothing new. Any pro-majority decision will seem like anti-minority. As long as our constitutional rights are protected, India will remain the safest home of all Muslims,Hindus and Christians alike. There have been more riots than the 2002 Gujrat riots and many Hindus and Muslims have died. But Law and order prevailed and perpetrators were brought to justice by the courts.
This is what makes India different from the Majority Muslim states where Sharia has been implemented in a Haphazard fashion.
Minorities and Majority alike should have supreme faith in the justice system of India which has remained impartial and has meted out justice consistently.
We understand India is not perfect and a lot of people have negative views about our community as a whole and discriminate against us in person but these things are rare and any such incident is heavily reported in our media thus shaming the perpetrator. The mistake you people make is assuming that this is the norm after reading our papers.

To be honest, tolerance on India is based on a truce rooted in philosophy of "You kill one of ours, we will kill three times of yours".

Also in India, Muslims do live under Sharia. It is they who chose out of Sharia criminal law while insisting on civil law based on Sharia.

Your post is extremely communal. Cow meat is banned because it is a directive principle and cows are revered in Indian culture. Period. Lots of other things are banned. Marijuana, prostitution, murder etc. Yet you pick up the beef card conveniently to beat the Hindus. And another liked your post!

Kashmiri Pandits case is also in there.Its been 25 years after that nightmares .They still live as refugees in their own mother land.
On topic:Until this LS elections Vote bank was the political culture of our nation.Only BJP put forward a development agenda this time and it succeeded.You know the real casualities in this slaughtering was SP ,Congress and other votebank politicians .
Muslims are fully integrating in to our society due to new enlightment through education .Hopes communal issues of third world wont rise again.

I have never understood why Pakistanis and Bangladeshis get so outright mad whenever anything good is said about Indian muslims, what have they ever done to you? If anything they try and pressure the Indian govt to have a softer approach.

Time and time again I have heard indian muslims requesting our neighbors to please leave them alone and that they are strong enough to sort out their own issues without your help but the minute " Indian muslim" is mentioned, battalions of Paks and Bongs bring out the artillery. please give them a break from your incessant fighting on their behalf !

The indian govt does have a problem with dealing correctly with minority pressure groups of any and all colors. In the past they have frequently pandered to the most hard line groups, insultingly assuming that all the coreligionists share that point of view. This is never true.

The govt should be fair and balanced, and SEEN to be fair and balanced. In order to do this they need to explain themselves better than they do currently , PR, whatever you want to call it. And the hard liners should be dealt with in the same way other democratic govts do, a mixture of bribery, threats, flattery and propaganda.

I think the current govt maybe better at this than past govts.

That's a silly comparison. Alcohol, Pork etc are not considered holy by Muslims, cows are considered so by Hindus who are then "hurt" if they are killed & eaten (not my personal opinion). Only people with little understanding of history will dismiss it as frivolous, Muslim rulers would deliberately sacrifice cows in temples to defile it. A better comparison would be if Hindus are allowed to make caricatures of the prophet because, as the logic goes, the restriction is in Islam & those not following that religion should not be stopped from doing that. I don't have to tell you what Muslim reaction on such matters have been so far.......
