What if China, Japan and a reunited Korea were allied?

They say pictures are worth a thousand words. Well, in the Japanese context, as it regards to the Imperial House, a picture is worth ten thousand words....

There is a reason for the Japanese to hang on to the entitlement of emperor even after the US insist as part of unconditional surrender. The different is, while the Royal in Europe are more of a figure head role, the emperor in Japan have its own divine status.

There is supposed to be some ancestral connection.

You mean Vikings and Cossacks? or Swede and Dane? or Scandinavian and Russian?

I should mention; the concept of Emperor is as old, if not older than the very Nation of Japan. It traces back to the first Emperor Jimmu, who ascended the throne over 2500 years ago. :)

That is the DIFFERENCE between China and Japan. Their Emperors and dynasties cycled ; at least every 200 to 300 years with one dynasty being replaced by another. In JAPAN, there was only One Imperial House --- a constant --- like the Rising Sun. And That is The Emperor.

If I remember correctly (or even if the source is creditable), Emperor, not the house control Japan, while Emperor in China evolve around the dynasty (New dynasty mean new faction in charge) while the Japanese are inverted (New emperor mean new era)

But I could be wrong, as A.) I learn this by watching Japanese Manga and animation, B.) It's like 15 years since I watch or read any anime and manga....

First of all, Russian aren't Viking, Vikings are Scandinavian, particularly Dane and Swede. Russian are Cossack

Second of all, If you feel like you want to go challenge Russia, which phasing your own word "drunken and unproductive" Russian, please do go ahead.

And by saying "People don't listen to emperors anymore", that alone show how little you know about Japanese Culture.

Hence I rest my case.

Viking they are my friend. Blue eyed blondes, where do you think they came from? Read up on history, they're Norsemen.
Oh you think the average Japanese still listens to their emperor? Give me a break. They might respect him, but it's no longer 'kamikaze time'.

what your pivot to asia will end your china containment policy will end
it isnt rocket science
ps
its never gonna happen

The Koreans are well underway. Japan will knock on the door before long. Note, I'm not saying those two countries will become another HK or Taiwan, I'm saying they're going to follow their economic interests and stop being hostile to China. Nothing more is being said here.

Dude, do you even know what is Norsemen and its origin?

Norsemen originate from North Germanic tribe and was originally settle in Island between Denmark and Norway-Swedish Border, the Viking raid brought settlement into Eastern Slavic (Baltic) and West to England and Frankia and Lower Gaul, which is modern Day German/France border.

The Viking (Or at least not many of them) however, does not settle in Russia or East of Baltic as back then the land was not really good for farming (The reason for Viking raid, beside trophy) and that is the reason why the Viking took the western route in the first place.

And yes, I have read enough Viking and Scandinavian history to teach in a secondary school, not to mention my wife is Swedish, and of direct descendant of Viking.

You want to talk about the Norse God too?

Oh you think the average Japanese still listens to their emperor? Give me a break. They might respect him, but it's no longer 'kamikaze time'.

lol, you do know Kamikaze is not for the emperor, right?

Pilot commit Kamikaze for the Divine Spirit of Yamato and for Bushi-do, it have NOTHING TO DO with the emperor himself. The emperor is believed by the Japanese as the descendant of Sun-God Amaterasu.

Just exactly how much History you do know?? Let me know so I can prepare for a base line.

lol

My sister-in-law is a Valkyrie ? :o:

Surely you can be called an Honorary Viking through marriage ! :azn:

Loved Norse Mythology....unfortunately archaeology doesn't pay much in Pakistan otherwise it was my dream to go into archaeological anthropology ! :(

And you never replied to my comment of linking you to Colonel Sanders ! :pissed:

Aaaahhh so thats why @Nihonjin1051 is so keen on marrying into the Japanese royal family so that he can attain semi-divine status through marriage ! :D

Come to think of it having a demi-god brother won't be such a bad idea ! :smokin:

Hey guys. I was thinking. What if those three powerhouses were united and allied? Aside from the US getting kicked off the lands of Korea and Japan, what could be the combined naval and economic power of the three? Could it rival the West on it's own? Could if influence world events on it's own? Like in Africa and the Middle East? We all know they're all highly innovative, hard working and very advanced. 1.6 billion advanced people is nothing to sneeze at.

I guess a racist paraphrase of the question would be: What if the yellow race united?

PS: I don't need any 'not going to happen' etc replies. Just wondering what the potential would be. Because

No practical way Japan will ever unite these countries. You dream much.

If I remember correctly (or even if the source is creditable), Emperor, not the house control Japan, while Emperor in China evolve around the dynasty (New dynasty mean new faction in charge) while the Japanese are inverted (New emperor mean new era)

Think of this way , the Emperor throne is in the Diet Assembly Hall. Even before meeting begin, all members bow to the Emperor's person. Law is pass after Emperor agrees and approves.

I think this is the second son of the current emperor.
He will not be the next emperor but he has a young son who has an excellent chance to be the next emperor.

Second in line to throne. His son Hisahito is third in line.

.
East Asia united like EU can easily dominate the entire world. They have the best brains in high-tech (South Korea), science (Japan), mathematics (China) and an abundance of natural resources. What more do they need?

A lot more. If the Koreans have such amazing technology, why are they stuck on a peninsula? If the Japanese have such amazing science, why are they stuck on an island chain?

World domination requires revolutionary, game-changing advances in transportation/logistics and weapons among other things.

Some examples?

The combination of the horse and bow/arrow allowed the Mongols to build the largest contiguous land empire in the history of the world.

Mongol Empire - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

MongolCavalrymen.jpg

The combination of the masted sailing ship and gunpowder weapons allowed Europeans to colonize most of the world from the late 15th century onward.

These are all examples from history.

The next great revolution will require equally impressive advances in technology. And trust me the Koreans and Japanese don't have it. They've never shown a whole lot of creativity in the past and they're not showing any now. It'll take a lot more than some Samsung Galaxy smartphones and Lexus luxury cars to dominate the world.
