After Trump administration's hostile policy towards Pakistan - it's essential we respond to this in strong way. However, at the same time, I think it's time we stop towards others. In my view, we need to give US-Pakistan relations another chance and leave the fight for some other day. We need to reset US-Pakistan relations. We can deliver strongest possible message by rejecting US AID, yet continuing our fight again terrorism. This essential step we should take now or we'll risk our economy and trade. The differences which are happening now is just due to escalated level of expectations in US. What you guys thinks?

and there is no reset button in foreign policy

Unfortunately US is adversary of china , it will do every thing to let china down.

On the other hand china is an ally and strategic partner of Pakistan , we cannot allow US to disturb the balance of region US cannot be our ally its filthy selfish country.
Only if US gives up its manipulative tactics then may be our relations could improve.

It is always there - also in past it was somewhat symmetric. Things only started changing after the fall of soviet union, but have become that asymmetric only recently. Anyway, what do you suggest how Pakistan should handle this situation?

sit back, calm and watch the situation. No further commitments and no further dialogue on this issue. Wait and see what opposite party brings on the table. Things go worst when weak party rush to go on table and commit something beyond its mean.

I think we need to think deeper than that. Like Sir Xi Jinping said there is no such thing as "free lunch" and I beleive that. We're doing trade like anyone else. How about the impact of sore US-Pak relations on our economy and trade?

This is beyond reset. To put it bluntly, they hate our nukes. Forget about friendship while you have them.

They are also closer to India, socially and culturally. They will NEVER give preference to us over India. And due to our constant animosity, time and time again situations arise where they must show their blatant favoritism for India. We cannot call them friends.

What they will bring to the table is a well armed Afghsn army that forms the Western arm of a coordinated attack. Now is the time to be working full speed to neutralize Indian influence, weaken American power, and sabotage Afghan government. This is the only way forward.

Sorry, unfortunately, I'm not among those people just sit back and relax when their home is burning. Of course, whatever leadership we've is already handling the situation. This post is just for brainstorming ideas.

Do brainstorming to improve your country , make it prosper more , become economically independent , US friendship is not important you can do all things without US. Its a non existing country across 7 seas who conspires always against our defense.
We are good without its friendship.

Economy and trade yes we can sell them goods but first we need to make them.

In these type of situation , I always quote Napoleon statement during Russian invasion. He said " I lost the war the day i see my soldiers eating rotten bread " .. a visit to soldiers in tranches .... Home comes first then rest comes later.

Yes, I think everyone know their future agenda's in South Asia:
1. They want Pakistan to abandon our missile program and nukes
2. They want stronger relation with India because they've significant interest there. In return India would want their favor on Kashmir issue and isolating Pakistan. They've already proven their hostility by declaring militants in Kashmir as terrorists. In future, they would want the give up our efforts on Kashmir as well.

But rejecting any of these will not affect us because we still have support on these issue. However, in current situation they can depict us worse and their western allies will follow the lead. All this will significantly affect our economy. While by rejecting those instrument that give them the sense we owe more can avoid confrontation atleast for now.

Foreign policy is not aggressive maneuvering , it require lots of patience and consultation. Built and analyze scenario from the past experience.

To counter that we need visionary leaders. We should be reaching out to other Western powers: Canada, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and solidify these relationships. We cannot continue to interact with the world from the shadows of American dominance. We need to chart our own independent course, and out manoeuver them in diplomacy.

No offense, but it only sounds like a good fantasy rather than reality. We currently export goods worth $4 billion dollar approximately to US, another $6 Billion dollar exports go to America's allies especially in Europe. Most of our $16 Billion remittances come from US and its allies. Though our largest import partner is China but rest is US' pocket, even China will follow to rest if we get sanctions. And in anyway, they just start curbing our exports and remittance underground by using their diplomacy - we'll end up worse. I think better policy will be: "don't scare the world but don't let other steer you either".

But their agendas on nuclear vertical proliferation even abandoning our nukes are almost same. However, Europe, UK and Canada don't have as much prejudice against China as compared to US and that leave only economic interests where India have possible leverage.

Independence means we should not care if they curb our goods or not , if these goods are standard and up to the mark they can and never will curb them.
And if they are not good enough then better do brainstorming and improve business tactics.
China create cheaper goods and us cant live without them , even though their relations are not good and trump is anti china but they still have to buy these goods.
