I think it has something to do with jinnah saying that if the british did not give kolkata-calcutta to east pakistan it would be a major disadvantage to Bangladesh-east pakistan.

The one time (or two times?) Bengal Chief Minister Sher-e-Bangal A.K Fazlul Haq said after 1947 that without Calcutta east Pakistan has become an entity without a center. He also cited the case of Berlin which was divided into two after 1945. He said Calcutta could have been divided like that. Was he wrong?

No way the Bangali Hindus will ever support a greater Bengal. However, the Mufti may be thinking of getting support from Muslims of west Bengal. They are about 28% of the population there. I must request you to read the true history. Without getting to read from many sources you must not come to a single conclusion. You have simplified things in a way that your post cannot be answered. You must be very young, therefore, there is too much time ahead for you to study more.
