Yeah, it feels so weird to see people getting bath under a tube well flow.. Some people even wash their hands from tube well water I have seen in some youtube videos..

I remember my grandparents and parents always telling me to save water.. always.. and still I have this habit of closing the tap when I brush my teeth. I even close the tap when doing Masah in wudu..

Its because underground water in punjab, especially central punjab never was a problem. Even in city like Lahore which have seen population explosion in recent decades. But this isn't sustainable and people will have to reduce usage. Especially in agriculture with modern techniques.

Yes a lot of water is lost to flood farming and drip farming is needed it will also decrease our fuel import cost and water will be saved but 2 major crops of Pakistan are wheat and rice and drip farming cannot help them.

This is the image of Mangla Dam Pakistan it is totally naked and water is lost because of evaporation if Water Lily are planted it will save million of hectors of water.

In Los Angeles they are using shade balls to prevent evaporation over water reservoirs and we should start using Water Lily to prevent water evaporation.

There has been some development on drip irrigation for wheat, though it will take long time to implement them in Pakistan. In thal region of punjab we can irrigate large land with drip irrigation to grow crops like cotton and vegetables. Punjab gov is working on it but to irrigate all of thal desert like area will need billions of $.
