The thugs! People actually committed suicide becuase of this fraud.

Hi, people committing suicide in India for socio-economic reasons, especially farmers, has been going on in India since decades, possibly right after Independence. Additionally, Indian micro-finance companies like SKS Microfinance have been openly known to be the cause of farmer suicides. Yet these Indian companies and mahajans are still allowed to operate.

Just between 1995 and 2015 more than 300,000 Indian farmers committed suicide for socio-economic reasons. Since 2015 the Modi government has made the NCRB ( National Crime Records Bureau ) to not keep record of farmer suicides nationally.

And in the case you posted the employees of these Chinese micro-finance high-interest-charging "investors" are very much Indian.

So let us also punish all the Indian components of these micro-finance and interest-charging people who force Indians farmers and other Indians to commit suicide, before laying the finger of blame on those two Chinese citizens.

Jamahir, apple to orange comparison. A farmer is no more important than a worker in a manufacturing plant or any white , blue, green colored employee. All lives are valuable equally . Farming is as much a profession as pottery.

I do not want tax payers money ro be used on any specific segments of people. No subsidy, MSPB etc to anyone.

This is so sad. I have seen how much hard work, blood, sweat and tears farmers put in to their land to feed their families on this side of the border. I am sure its no different in India. I hope farmers get the socio-economic justice they deserve.

Agreed. I just gave the example of farmers because they as a community are the most visible victims of India's extreme Capitalism.

People dying of hunger because of no money with them or as in this case of a young woman student from Telangana committing suicide because of delay in her scholarship money... All manifestations of Capitalism and all issues to be spoken up equally.

I do not want tax payers money ro be used on any specific segments of people.

Then let that money be spread to alleviate misery of all sections of society. Let us cancel the fact that India's military has been the second-largest importer of armaments in the world and these purchases were made despite the money needed inside India to remove hunger, homelessness, blindness, cancers, suicides etc.

In the end the demand comes down to Modi hatao pappu lao..

I want Kanhaiya Kumar to become the PM. The Congress, the Left and the secular regional parties should form an umbrella movement and together speak of bringing progressive change to Indian political, social and economic sectors.

Yes. Thank you.

Sorry but that is a defeatist statement.

If you have not read it before please read this proposal of mine for a new communist economic system. I believe I have simplified other communist experiments. The system is quite appliable. Anywhere.

Islam and its successor - Modern Communism. From my thread from 2016 :
During the same period (1920s-30s), another (though lesser known) Islamic scholar in undivided India got smitten by the 1917 Russian revolution and Marxism.

Hafiz Rahman Sihwarwl saw Islam and Marxism sharing five elements in common: (1) prohibition of the accumulation of wealth in the hands of the privileged classes (2) organisation of the economic structure of the state to ensure social welfare (3) equality of opportunity for all human beings (4) priority of collective social interest over individual privilege and (5) prevention of the permanentising of class structure through social revolution.

Your brand of morality is peculiar. You have never spoken of socio-economic oppressions and injustices in India and elsewhere. You have never presented political solutions for anywhere. Your comment in this thread is not about the thread topic but about me. And all you keep dreaming up is the revival of the Zoroastrian empire.

Drivel, you say ? Just read through my threads I have linked above.

Agreed. And about the underlined, the sensible journalist Ravish Kumar in his 9 PM program on NDTV India called Prime Time said that most farmers in Bihar state earn 3000 rupees per month. This will get them by with difficulty in their villages but not bring them a good life. Them then taking high-interest loans with this income and India's socio-economic system being flippant and uncaring means that these farmers are driven by the system to commit suicide.

Are you assuming that all micro finance companies are bad?
A lot of them give out small loans to marginalised sections of society, who will be rejected by all established banks. Money lenders are scum, though.

Farmer suicides are a result of way too many villagers taking the easy way out and jumping into farming. The farm sector doesn't need so many people. These people need to get into other businesses. It is a risk, and needs hard work. Which is where most Indians fail. We are unwilling to go that extra mile, and depend way too much on the government.

In my opinion, the government (most Indian governments) have done the right thing to focus on infrastructure instead of handing out subsidies/dole to the poor.
They should focus on quality primary education now.

You are partly correct. The micro-finance institutions and the mahajans exist because the regular banks either reject loan requests for small sums or they don't have branches near the requestor.

MFs don't need to exist. The regular banks should loan out small sums too, without interest, instead of bringing out "products" like demat accounts ( I never understood what that was ). A bank should have existed for two reasons only : maintain an account and give out loans through taking partnership in the requestors loan purpose. Additionally, there need not exist the private banks, which means that all of India's banks should have coalesced into the SBI ( State Bank of India ).

Farmer suicides are a result of way too many villagers taking the easy way out and jumping into farming. The farm sector doesn't need so many people. These people need to get into other businesses.

I agree partly. This is the result of successive governments not developing farming and other employments scientifically.

Urban Farming and Vertical Farming are new developments in the farm sector. What the governments should have done is take the populations of say ten villages and allot them into a newly built township which has a few Vertical Farms in every neighborhood. These VFs should be computerized ( for light provision, nutrient insertion etc ). And these VFs ( and UFs for those crops which cannot be grown in buildings ) should be managed collectively ( Collective Farming like in the USSR ).

Set up such new townships across all of India's rural areas, even extensions to current cities, ensure city amenities and culture there and we will have a culturally progressive and scientifically employed workforce. And to reply to your point about the farming sector not really requiring so many people, yes, the UF and VF system will reduce the workforce and make India a much more food surplus country.

I must say here that Venezuela has been experimenting with neighborhood-level Urban Farming since some years. And this is supplemented with decentralized, neighborhood-level political and economic management which they learnt from Libya.

It is a risk, and needs hard work. Which is where most Indians fail. We are unwilling to go that extra mile

Agreed. Some Indian member here had posted that when Tata bought the British Jaguar car company in 2008 for 2.3 billion dollars what Tata should have done is do strategic thinking and invest a few more billion and set up a microprocessor manufacturing foundry in India. This would have made India one of the few countries able to have a processor foundry. India does have foundry facilities locally, called SCL, in Bangalore and Chandigarh but these don't develop nanometer-featured chips for general purpose use. They manufacture for specialized purposes ( spacecraft, military etc ).

In my opinion, the government (most Indian governments) have done the right thing to focus on infrastructure instead of handing out subsidies/dole to the poor.

1. Frankly I dislike the word "dole" as that tends to be dismissive about what governments should exist for : enabling a welfare system where people don't have to struggle for basic needs and where they will be easily able to realize what they want to do. There should be no rich and no poor. Please read my proposal here.

2. I don't see any great infrastructure projects the government has done. It has been mainly that useless Vallabhbhai Patel statue ( world's tallest ) and the proposed bullet train between Bombay and Ahmedabad.

They should focus on quality primary education now.

Education must be free for all levels else this will occur.

And it must be remade scientifically. We don't need anymore mediocre computer engineering graduates ( 200,000+ per year ) and MBAs.
