The United States considered that Egypt plays a constructive role with regard to border security, the Libya files, the Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, and the situation in the Gaza Strip.

"We believe that Egypt has legitimate concerns, and we believe that security assistance to Egypt is an essential way to meet these needs," said Dana Stroul, US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Middle East Affairs.

She added that "the US administration considers that Egypt plays a constructive role with regard to border security, Libya, the Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, and the conflict in Gaza," referring to the US military's overflights and the Suez Canal transit movement.

She noted Egypt's agreement to allocate an amount of its budget, and not only part of the US security assistance, which amounts to 1.3 billion dollars annually, to modernize its fleet of Apache helicopters.

the Americans really REALLY want Egypt to attack ethiopia...

it will check off soo many boxes for them. Weaken pro-china ethiopia (which was set to become africas superpower)..

weaken Egypt and get them completely dependent on the US. and by default, increase zionist security. by making the egyptians see ehtiopia as their biggest enemy as opposed to Israel...

and Egypt is chewing it all up... thinking the US has its back and it can push ethiopia around... both ethiopia and egypt lose in this scenario while the US and Israel wins...

Egypt would be much better off to invest in some water desalination plants. a war costs billions... why not just invest that into a long term solution? the NILE is not a reliable source of water for a 100 million~ country to fully rely on and to develop from. its not 1000BC anymore.
