Then how come none of Mujib's rival(Bhutto,Khairuddin...etc) never cried foul over the election??

And if a fair election had been held who do you think would have won?

Never in the history of Pakistan (from 1947) and Bangladesh (from 1971) a free and fair election has been held. That day I was discussing with a Pakistani about recent election in Pakistan that in Bangladesh/Pakistan good people have no scope of being elected. How Nawaz the old thug again got elected when there's a leader like Imran Khan? He answered, "Well it's not that Imran Khan didn't get huge votes, all were diverted to thug candidates Nawaz to make him PM". Likewise, in the history starting from 1973 here in BD never there was a fair election. Back in 73 when Mujib knew that no one would be able to approach him on election result, still he rigged it. Similarly, from 91 until now no fair election has been held. If this time West decides BNP will be on power, there will be special system for BNP, same goes for BAL...of course they'll judge the statistics of popularity.

Thing is it's a process, it takes time and everyone including West understands that through this it will upgrade once...it's poor third world region not developed 1st world meaning test of democracy you know....patience. And Pakistan then after that election failed in the test. Through rigged election they can accept their leaders now, they couldn't then.

1.If you take elections in its totality, this just cannot be fair. Nizam e Mostafa, Hitler, Gaddafi, G B Shaw, the Marxists and many others have exemplified or explained the ills of the voting systems followed globally. The neo-colonial imperialists have found in this an useful tool to use against opponents at home and abroad.

2. No, 1970 election was neither free or free - just like none others have been. Start from pre-election lies, cheating, coercion, bribery, arm-twisting, treachery - all the tricks that an evil mind can conjure were deployed and are still deployed in SA during elections. Its not just Awami League, everyone did/does this depending on the funds they can muster.

@ The character of AL and PPP were almost the same. All the young lots of AL and PPP were left oriented.

@ Pakistan Muslim Leaque was divided into three groups. The Govt machinary secretly did not want that Muslim Leaque to come to power again. Silently they neutralize the prominent righest leaders. The central fund of Convention Muslim Leaque was frozon. The Bank accounts of Industrialist were frozen. Almost 500 CSP officers were forcefully retired. So, all these activities went against the rightist politicians specially Muslim Leaque.

@ If the military govt could had been neutral then definitely these groups could unitedly fought against AL in the then East Pakistan. There could have been atleast balance of forces in East Pakistan.
