Was the Bangladeshi MIG 29's necessary?

People of sikkim overwhelmingly wanted to be in India. Thats why even though so many secession movement in India in various places, you wont see anything in sikkim. We did not gulp sikkim, they wanted to be with us.

About procurement matter. BD military to brass know very well about their requirements. They have purchased Mig-29s and have upgraded these 16 units to SMT level. We already have 100 units of planes, but some of these need replacement with better fighters. So, purchases are going on of planes. BD is also purchasing Frigates, Corvettes, Helicopters (even our RAB bought two of these), T-96G tanks, FACs, SAMs, SSMs, land-based missile protection system and even submarines.

By the time four units of Submarines are inducted in our arsenal, BN will only be second strong in this region. When the govt is purchasing weapons in two hands, some lame guys are researching here if it was good for BD to purchase 16 units of Migs in the past.

Why Indians are so nerveous and why they come out to show off their strength here in this thread. Did someone say BD will fight India? But, of course, BD will fight back with whatever weapons it has once India does something silly. India will be bloodied in its nose.

It would be great if the Bangladesh Air force get F-16's,they are cheaper to maintain when compared to the MiG's,cheap to buy and have better avionics and after sales customer support(Russian customer care is pathetic in this regard).

All these are insurgencies in which Mig 29 has no role to play. To tackle this you need a strong, disciplined & modern ground force trained in jungle warfare not some aircraft flying at around 20,000 ft .

Nobody wants you. How many times one has to shout from rooftop. What do you bring to the table.
We are trying to keep you away from India, cant you see why we are trying to build a fence. Where is the fence for nepal and bhutan?
And about sikkim, I will still say, overwhelmingly they want to be with India. You will find some nuts here and there in every place.

About defence procurement, that should depend on your risk assesment. I can only say the risk from Indian side is minimal.

There is another country nearby that tried conventional parity in defence, and ruined their economy. Your leaders dont want to go that way.

Yeah, all that "HDI" and infrastructure with American oil money coupled with the blood and sweat of Asians. Delete those two out of the equation, they are nothing more than Bedouins randomly running around the desert. The bottom line is that Arabs are LAZY. They aren't as industrious as they used to be.

The only countries in the Middle East I do have some respect for are Egypt and tremendous respect for Iran (although technically not Arab). Although not a great fan of the Iranian regime.

Majority of the Middle Eastern states aren't even democratic.

Bangladesh should procure more helicopters. They have always been lacking in them, especially during disaster operations.

Can also help during insurgencies. Transporting troops quickly to hot-spots is very crucial in any military operation.

@ There were lot of treason cases against this Kader Siddique. He came to Bangladesh from London where he was leading exile life after the fall of Ershad on December 1990 or January 1991. At that time Justice Shahabuddin was the President. At that time AL lobby was very strong in the administration. He made an liaison with AL lobby that if he applies to the President for mercy petition than he is likely to be pardon. So, he was pardoned by the President of Bangladesh.

@ So, once he was pardoned he is free man. "Kia kare bhai, ye Bnagladesh hai, yeha sub kush hota hai".

Some witch doctor here is suggesting to buy ONLY helicopters but not Migs, F-16s, JF-17 or J-10s, SAMs, SSMs, Tanks and others as if Helis are the only way to win a war. Our military Generals should start a new class whereby the witch doctor comes and lectures about Helis as if people do not know at all about the heli functions in a war.

This doctor teaches people that Americans came and developed Japan after 2nd WW. Thing is, a big mountain looks small to a person's eyes if he puts his small thumb (read IGNORANCE) in front of his eyes.
