Misconceptions in regards to virginity are prevalent in some societies unfortunately. A virgin woman is supposed to bleed? Not necessarily. Hymen can rupture due to different factors (physical activities mostly).

A woman can also fool a man with 'hymen reconstruction' which is also unfortunate.

Safe bet is to observe a woman's behavior in different situations and her family background. IMO, women with firm boundaries since childhood are likely to be virgins.

I don't want to be explicit but it [is] possible to figure out whether your woman was a virgin (or not) - after marriage. Takes a bit of common sense and knowledge.

By the way, if a society holds virginity in high regard - nothing wrong in this. However, people need to educate themselves and make informed decisions.

Hello chickpeas,

Read a few articles on Virginity tests which still take place in Afghanistan, Africa, Indonesia and even in some rural parts of India.

One would say this practice is embarrassing, medieval and humiliating. Another thing I find typical is how women are always resorted to undertake such an embarrassing, uncomfortable and horrible ordeal whilst men can pop as many weasels as they want and aren’t held accountable.

It takes two to tango.

White sheet after the wedding night, is common in the all region... WIth the proof of Blood stain.
Many stories get out when those young brides became grandmas...
A few of them, lose their "Virginity" by accident (by unwanted expansion) or via Masturbation. And can't tell...
So many among them pass the best "Way" to not be spotted when the time come...

Something I didn't know..;was the amount of Blood... Many "Woman" after the act get suspicious toward the bride... When they see the amount of" blood"... Many bride, fail to deceive the women...because they used to much "Fake blood"...But since the Men... are not Pro in the area...they see nothing... Therefore, to not make unnecessary conflict... Women stay silent.

It's not just a 'man hypocrisy' thing, women are party to these practices aswell. Similar to female genital mutilation. Both parents make these decisions and have long line of these stupid customs.

This got nothing to do with just men. It's whole families and cultures in on it.

I agree .I dont think its just a male issue. Judging from what I red, it seems to be a cultural /traditional/societal issue, which many families have been adhering to it for generations. Due to globalisation, Internet etc this issue seems it will die down I guess.

To be honest though, men and wonen have always been treated /regarded differently due to obvious reasons
