Shri Lakshmi Defence Solutions, a leading suppliers of defence equipments for the Indian armed forces had yet again proved their worth by developing a new attacking as well as defending vehicle for the Indian defence forces. Its name is "VIPER".

VIPER is based on a traditional SUV configuration of four side doors and a single rear luggage door. It also contains a rotating turret and cross-country run flat tyre. It also has a pick-up van style platform for additional cargo and heavy artillery payload.

The VIPER carries a total crew complement of six plus four and is armored to exceed the European B7 Armour. It can take on heavy attacks while moving as the rear portion is converted to a bullet proof morcha, providing complete protection to rear crew members and equipments.
As for the interior,
The lower part of all the 4 doors of this vehicle have been fitted with removable heavy-duty armour steel panels which can be removed immediately and can be used as Ballistic shields in emergency thus providing cover for the commandos to move closer to the target on foot where the vehicle cannot reach.

The inner walls are lined with ballistic blankets which can be used as bomb blankets while any emergency repairs or providing cover to VVIPs. VIPER seats are fitted with blast resistant panels which can be also used as additional panels or replacement panels for body armours.

The VIPER is an ideal vehicle for cross country and swift operations with complete team of six fully loaded commandos. It is also an excellent patrol vehicle. It can be used as for VVIPs while traveling long distance.

The induction of VIPER by the Indian armed forces is another visible step towards becoming a super power in the near future.

Mahindra hands over India's 1st armoured capsule based light bulletproof vehicle to Mumbai Police

Mumbai: Mahindra Defence Systems (MDS), one of India’s leading providers of special military vehicles, today handed over the first tranche of the Marksman, India’s first armoured capsule based light bulletproof vehicle, to the Commissioner of Mumbai Police, Mr. Sivanandan.

“The Mumbai Police is the first police force in India to be equipped with the Marksman which is designed to provide protection to Police, security and special forces against small arms fire and under belly grenade attacks. It enables the unit to carry out both aimed and prophylactic fire from within the vehicle. It is also an ideal light bullet proof vehicle to counter terror in urban areas, for armed reconnaissance as well as convoy protection.

This is part of our vision to enable Mumbai Police modernise its equipment which will enable it to meet the toughest of situations,” said Raghu Raman, Spokesperson, Mahindra Defence Systems.

Aside from the Marksman, MDS also equips the Police and Security forces with several other special purposes vehicles, including the Mahindra Rakshak, the Up armoured Scorpio, bullet proof vehicles and Riot Control Vehicles.

MDS initially created the market for light bullet proof vehicles in India and is the country’s leading provider of up-armoured and bullet proof vehicles. There are in excess of 900 Light Bullet Proof vehicles with the Indian Army, Paramilitary, Central Police Forces and State Police Forces. These vehicles have proved themselves repeatedly in operations, developing a formidable reputation and saving many lives.

In March 2009, MDS inaugurated the Mahindra Special Military Vehicles (MSMV) facility at Prithla in Faridabad, NCR. Spread across six acres, this modern plant has facilities for specific military manufacturing applications. MDS has a dedicated R&D team for designing, prototyping and vehicle engineering, an international supply chain for ballistic material and an annual capacity to manufacture 1000 Bullet Proof and specialised vehicles.

MDS also supplies Bullet Proof and Up armoured vehicles, both for VIP Security and combat duties, to the Army, Paramilitary Forces, Central Police Forces and State Police Forces of Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Bengal, Chattisgarh, Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Meghalaya, Manipur and Orissa, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Besides this, MDS has also exported bullet proof vehicles to Nepal, Sri Lanka, the Republic of Ghana and Trinidad.
