Interestingly there's no quota for those of a lower socioeconomic standing. Given the progress BD has made in women's standing I think the women's quota can be reduced a bit along with the FF quota.

I agree with FF quota but Womens' quota - maybe not. I will state the reasons why in a later post.

In contrast, most European Union countries forbid quotas. According to the UK Advisory, Conciliation, and Arbitration Service, “[It] is unlawful to select a person for a job on the basis of their gender or race in order to achieve a fixed quota of employees of that gender or race.”

I agree with this in principle but unlike most European countries, Bangladesh is poor. It needs to have fair amount of quota system to get them up to speed and make sure their voices and concerns don't get drowned in the sea of majority.

Reduce all quotas and bring them to a total of 15% at most, 10% seems reasonable. But get rid of FF quota entirely. It has almost nothing to do with FF and more to do with their DNA carriers who had nothing to do with the war. It's criminal how so many seats are reserved for them when others with their merit can't, just because they weren't born in a FF family.

Bollocks to the quota.... and actually have fairly little sympathy for the students. These fools allowed shahbagh claptrap to occur and were willing and enthusiastic participants in the destruction of democracy. They stood silent when madrasa students were massacared. These intellectual simpletons thought BAL was about anything but perpetuation of power.... how wrong they were. So now they will be just another segment of society who will be brutalised.

(Before anyone points out that not all students support BAL .... well yes off course.... but the segment of students that are demonstrating now were the foot soldiers that demanded judicial killings and revelled at the subjugation of madrasah students, as such I am generalising)

If you don't mind me saying it - making East Pakistanis happy '50 years pehley' using those quotas would have helped a bit. The realization had come a bit late.

Quota in Civil Jobs has been since 1947.Quota in Army Soldier recruitment was introduced Province vise in late 1970's and later in late 2000,that was even refined to District level.PA Officer cadre is still recruited without an Quota.

ditto, i've seen the facebook statuses of some FF quota holders and they are like "WE DESERVE QUOTAS BECAUSE OUR PARENTS FOUGHT IN THE WAR" . They are proud of the fact that they are reaping the rewards of actions of which they had nothing to do with.

Provincial is main,rest that is further divided into Minorities,Disable Persons and women.
There is also Tribal Quota,same like Provincial.

Lol ISSB has tribal quota. The Bangladesh army requires 5'6 height for bengalis and 5'4 height for tribals on quota basis.

Bangladesh army commission rank does not have quota.
And the height requirement is for soldiers not the officer
