How those people died? By live bullets? Had this happened in China, western media would have called the rioters "peaceful pro-democracy protesters" by now.

Quite a few must have died by bullets.
In democracies , ppl are allowed to burn stuff but the police takes deadly action only if lives are threatened.
But we cannot compare china to India as you hang upward of 1000 people every year in kangaroo courts. While in India a single hanging in 5 years is discussed for years together.

Curfew relaxed in Punjab, Haryana towns
* Authorities in Punjab and Haryana today relaxed curfew in some towns to enable the residents to buy essential and eatable items.

* In Punjab, curfew was relaxed in Patiala, Bathinda and Ferozepur towns for four hours, while in Haryana it was relaxed in Kaithal town.

* In Haryana's Fatehabad town, the Army was deployed to assist the paramilitary and police personnel in maintaining law and order.

* The situation in Haryana's Sirsa, the headquarters of the Dera Sacha Sauda sect, 260 km from here, was tense as over one lakh followers were still camping there.

* "The Army has been asking the followers to vacate the Dera premise voluntarily. Over 2,000 followers have left but still nearly one lakh people are stationed there," a senior police official told IANS here. To control the situation, the Punjab government on Friday imposed curfew in six districts. They were Patiala, Sangrur, Ferozepur, Mansa, Faridkot, Bathinda and two sub-divisions Malout in Muktsar Sahib and Abohar in Fazilka district. No incident was reported from 13 remaining districts of Punjab, the government said.

No milk, groceries, power in Panchkula, Zirakpur; residents hold on

Operation bluestar was against entrenched terrorists in a holy place. Not relevant to this event.
1984 riots were totally political , Congress organised.
Gujarat riots were also partially political though the burning alive of Hindus in a train did give it a religious dimension.
But these are examples of when state Admn did not act adequately, while now most of the dead are the followers . Here also the Admn was inept but whether ppl should be shot for destroying property is a grey area.

These riots more closely resemble the Gujarat riots in the Patel agitation where also close to 30 to 40 people died in the reservation agitation.

Just watching this guy... he seems quiet a sensible person and just learned he is fighting against drug mafia and is rehabilitating se*x slaves. He is reformist and a social worker. Why is Hindustani government trying to inflict him in false cases? And looking at the reasoning, when there are over half a million people living in his Ashram, why would he rape? Would 100s of girls not be willing to marry him any given day?

And we can see why are there riots in Indian Punjab and why his followers are offended.
