Villages across China

.
We have a lot of ghost cities or towns, but I 100% guarantee you there is no Ghost village.

I like the pan cake !

Nirvana Phoenix rise from the ashes

I am not really worried about ghost cities. At least people with money are putting money back into real estate market and buy up all those properties. lol. Of course this does drive up housing prices.

Villages have little market values, so I don't know who in their right mind would buy houses for future speculation. I have always thought it's strange that China has no real property taxes, and this is really the culprit since people owning multiple houses have no financial burdens but all the rewards. Plus, young Chinese girls have this weird notion that they must own houses to get married. lol

thanks for that nice cement structures terrace ....imo...they are not in harmony with its surrounding..

they look mechanized to the eyes...千篇一律

It's all about money. Most Chinese villages are still relatively poor so it's easier and cheaper to build multiple houses with same designs.

. .
Chinese villagers are becoming richer and richer
many villagers become rich overnight coz they sell their land to the government
and a lot city guys envy them a lot

with the urbanization of Chinese population, a lot of poor villages will disappear or be abandomed. For the rest villages, the government launches "new countryside" movement, which make many villages beautiful and a lot of villagers move into new houses.

the following are some pics of villages in China, ranging from coast area to hinterland poor provinces.

I didn't get it you have planned villages in China, all houses looking the same.

I think the govt builds these brand new villages and then ask people to move from their old villages to the new ones while taking over the old ones. Strange system but effective in China I suppose where people can't say no.

Don't you find it bizarre as its quite difference from a perception of a village.

Yes, it's a bizarre system. You can't adopt such a system in many other countries even if you have the money to do it. On one hand the standard of living of these people will improve but at the same time they will be detached from their age old way of lives in villages. Essentially they are creating urban societies in rural areas.

it is not that ppl can't say no, it is many villagers are dreaming that their local government will do the same

there are fields around their houses, some of them are still farming.

the issue is younger generations are not willing to farm, and just put their lands go out of cultivation.

very few ppl would like to keep the traditional farming life. They are human beings, they don't want to suffer from hardship of farming just to let outsiders think: wow, wonderful, they are still keeping their way of life, bravo!

how could ghost villages happen?
the houses are built for villagers or by villagers themselves, not for commercial use.

When I think of Chinese villages, I think of these kinds of images

The above pic is just part of the showing of the improvement of the qualiy of livelihoods

Most of the "traditional houses" are not built with convenient facilites like electricity, running water, hygienic installations and communications
It is the people's choice if they want to advance with China's progress or to stay in their ancestors' era. :pleasantry:

China used more cement in the last 3 years than the U.S. did in the 20th century

That is too exaggerating isnt it? :o:
But we have been building many many bridges, tunnels, airports, roads/railroads, railroad stations, skyscrapers, river dams, massive irrigation and water diversion projects ... in the last 1 or 2 decades :-):china:

Poor excuses! These houses were built centuries ago and yet, they not only retain their external beauty, but inside they still have all the old elements of the past without sacrificing the comfort of modern day.

All these houses didn't have electricity and sewage even 50 years ago. Heck, even most city houses did't have toilet and bathroom in every flat. If someone said I'm going next door, it means that he/she is going to the toilet because it was outside the house.

Poor rebuttal and observation

Most of our old village homes are built wih wood or grass structures or poor quality of bricks which cannot withstand the many forces of nature over the years. Also many of our provinces are lying in a earthquake prone areas

I have been to pretty much all parts of China. I have seen houses that were perfectly suitable to be modernized and yet got torn down and at the same spot they built an crappy ugly looking concrete monster void of any culture.

in those old houses, there is electricity
China has electricity 99.999% coverage of its population

dont fool us with your diatribes
What you have seen are reserved for your own opinion and your experiene is drawn froma very small portion over a vast rural China
By and large, old houses need to be taken down as what I have said and fully legitimised by the want of the people
