Vietnam Tech Firm Takes On Apple & Samsung With One Of The World's Best Phone

We must know if this phone is 99% made in China.

RIght now, only Viettel and VNPT is making their own phones, even then they are just stamping their brand on it.

Even if they made lots of component, the chipset is still Taiwanese Mediatek, a "China company".
99% in china, and 1% in kenya?

Qualcomm 8974 is quite an overkill for Vietnam as you guys has no LTE network. BTW I visited Cau Giay District frequently.

The Viettel and VNPT, thanks to Samsung are able to recruit quality mobile handset engineers.

I admire the Vietnamese that you guys are developing your own phone, and building your own industries.
LTE comes soon, either end of this year or next year. the main problem vietnam faces right now is lack of qualified professionals and engineers. if you are good and qualified, you can earn 1,500 USD or more a month.

Apple strategy is correct. You don't sell cheap phones. You sell a brand. Nokia and Samsung selling all level range of phones will doom themselves one day. With Nokia first to go.

I miss those good old days of Nokia

You see, early on we realized the market potential and ingenuity of the Chinese. Whereas the Koreans would prefer to compete with them directly, we Japanese preferred to tap into the Chinese energy. If you read into the philosophy of Aikido, the premise is that its best to redirect the opponent's Ki (energy), and use the opponent's Ki to one's own benefit. That is what we did in regards to components. Realizing that that is how we can best tap into Chinese massive market at the same time maintain our vast manufacturing in China. The Koreans are devoid of this philosophy of Aikido, even in their martial arts -- Soo Bak Do and Tae Kwon Do -- it is about force projection. Not redirection of Ki.

This is the reason why Korean brands, ultimately, will fail against the Chinese. They are experiencing a positive feedback effect. The more they compete, the more they will eventually loose to the competition since quite frankly the Chinese phone brands are using superior Japanese technology within it. That's why Chinese phones are so good, lol. Inside them is Japanese core tech.

And the Koreans can only compete so much.

Its all about strategy, Mike.

Are you a practitioner of Aikido? I am.

Lool at least Huawei knows that for it's smartphones to remain competitive, it needs to keep sourcing most of its crucial parts from Japan. Well done Huawei, that's what i like about businessesmen/investors, they don't care about what their ultra nationalistic folks think. They do what they think is best for their company. :D

Not world's best smartphone at all...
Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset is already available, Asus recently launched smartphone with 4 GB RAM (Asus Zenfone 2), Smartphones with Quad-HD displays are also in market (LG G3, Nexus 6).
Don't compare hardware specifications with Iphone 6.... Any mid-range smartphone has more RAM and processing speed than Iphone 6 beat it in Performance if you can

@Viet who's the owner of that said company btw? Is he from Vietnam proper ? Or is he an overseas Vietnamese ?
the CEO of BKAV is Nguyễn Tử Quảng, 40 year old vietnamese. not exile. he worked a software developer, and now CEO. the company offers anti virus, anti spam and some other related stuffs. Bphone is a new business of the company. no idea who owns the company. from some news, the government may have a big share of the company.

Unless I read the article it wrong, it only offers Snapdragon 801? My Galaxy Note 4 has the 805 and that was released six months ago. None the less, the 801 isn't something to sneeze at by any means. Just not quite as up to date as most high end phones.

Still though, phone looks good, all be it very iPhone looking though.

I think the article is misleading as it states it is a Vietnamese phone but if you look at all the parts, they are all foreign parts. The phone is assembled in Vietnam but that does not mean it is domestically produced as the CEO claim it to be.

Yes Japan still dominates many core tech areas, where Chinese companies source them from Japan. Many people don't know about this simply because Japanese tend to boast less. Talk less but do more. It's something i admire about Japan .

I agree and disagree with you. In reality Chinese don't brag as much. But in this forum, who knows who is real Chinese or not but they are less modest.
