Vietnam surpasses Bangladesh in RMG export

The thing is Bangladesh's economy is mostly based on export of RMG and Remittance which is quite a drawback. Bangladesh might see decline in the RMG sector in the future due to rising cost.

It is high time for Bangladesh to become a service oriented nation.

Bd needs to diverse it's export basket quickly, not just depend on rmg. Mass Manufacturing is a good way to lift people out of poverty.

Proton can’t be compared with cars of VF. Malaysia makes cheap cars. If we follow Malaysia step we would fail. Vinfast invest $3.5b in the car factories. That’s big sum. Big bet. There are numerous car part manufacturers in immediate surroundings. With the time I think we can almost make everything. Certainly we will continue relying on imports but who not?

Certainly you are better than Proton now since majority of Proton shareholder have been acquired by Chinese company.

In order to have mass manufacturing capability you need to force your worker to work 12 hours a day like China. Chinese labours are like machines and can work for tens of hours. Bangalis are very much into comfort and serenity and I doubt they would like to work like a bull.

I want one, how much are they in USD? And are they reliable?
Sure the cars are reliable. The technology comes from Germany. Cars now only available in Vietnam. We are the first buyers. Later, as soon as next year, cars will become available in Russia, America and Australia. Depending on success they will be exported to other countries as well. Bangladesh mostly imports used Japanese cars correct? It’s difficult then for us to sell cars here. Maybe we can sell in BD in a small figure. Price ranges between $15,000 and $75,000. Top cars as V8 6.2 l motor cars or Audi sports car in the Images above certainly cost in the upper range. We can make lots of cars. The factory has a design capacity of 500,000 cars per year. More is not a problem at all.

Yes economy cars will sell well in Bangladesh. Maybe Vinfast can partner with a local firm to conduct CKD and SKD assembly to avoid import duties levied on completed vehicle imports.

Brother @Viet, Being an automotive industry observer for most of my life, I am yet to be convinced - that launching an unknown luxury automotive marque/brand is a good initial strategy to penetrate any foreign market like the US. Domestically in Vietnam local luxury brand will probably do fine. Of course feel free to ignore my unsolicited advice. :-)

The reason I say this is that Toyota, Nissan and Honda (all first tier Japanese brands) waited fifty years in the US before launching their luxury brands (Lexus, Infiniti and Acura, respectively). Second tier Japanese brands (by sales, not quality exclusively) like Mazda, Mitsubishi and Subaru still don't have luxury offerings in this Market. Hyundai and Kia have some (after being in this market for some thirty five years), but they don't sell all that well. The reason is simple, Luxury vehicles typically do not sell on lower price, they sell on prestige and exclusivity, which are European traits and specialization. But if Vinfast feels it can sell them overseas (maybe US), they are welcome to do so.

To be honest, even the Chinese have hesitated introducing their car brands in the US, though the Volvos (even most American brands like Buicks) contain a majority of parts made in China. For those who do not know, Volvo is a Chinese-owned brand now.

Chinese cheap low quality cars have zero chance in the US. The Japanese is certainly the benchmark they offer quality and reasonable price, no surprise they dominate the market. Korean cars are Ok something in between. Vietnam will forever be stuck in making shoes if we don’t make cars. All industrial nations make cars. As for luxury cars, no, Vinfast will not export expensive cars in the first phase. It’s risky bet. They will export 300 miles electric cars instead. The model is under development and will be put into production by next year. If all goes according to plan.

Please don't spout misinformation and outright lies. Especially if you cannot back it up.

I have close experience of many decades with exporting companies in Bangladesh export zones and know this not to be the case. In fact far from it.
