The province of Sindh has been in ruins for decades, the ruling party PPP has done nothing for the people living there. When election comes they hand out measly $50 checks and call it a day.

The elections are always rigged 99% there, votes are automatically cast, whoever challenges the status quo is threatened or killed.

You can see the extreme contrast in between the leaders and general public there, the leader is driving a land cruiser, living in mansions... the typical MPA government salary cannot even afford such luxuries even if he stays on seat for a lifetime.

Province of Sindh needs the most attention as is the most neglected - international media doing articles about Bahrain (SWAT) and GB which has minimal damage compared to Sindh where approx 85% of rural properties are completely damaged or uninhabitable due to flood water.

Recall my post of yesterday, where I mentioned this. Swat and GB perhaps hits closer to home, wahan ham log jatay hain, we see their pictures, know that as a touristy place, while interior Sindh and Balochistan is some far flung Martian land jahan pata nhn kaun rehta hai.

I honestly urge everyone, with the resources and time, to some time go and spend a week or so traveling interior Sindh, not just the N5, not just Engro ka rest house or FFC Goth Machi, but their cities...Sehwan, Khairpur, Badin, Thatta, Dadu, Kandkhkot, Mithi....all those places. Rona aye ga.

Passing through those areas does one feel truly priveleged in life.

These people are not here to solve these peoples problems. They are here for optics. No one works for the betterment of the poor citizenry and the citizenry know it.
These people are known to sell off truckloads of relief supplies for their own pockets.
You won't believe how low these people have stooped in their greed.
It is understandable why the people are attacking these thieves.

You don't understand the back story of the province of Sindh. Rural Sindh is one of the most impovrished places in Pakistan, if not in the world. The so called "elected" leaders are fuedal lords, large land owners who live like Kings and treat the people like their slaves. They have utter contempt for the people who they consider beneath them and rule over them through violence and intimidation.

This man went to visit flood victims, sat on a platform, made them sit on the floor, drank cold drinks and washed his shoes with mineral water whilst the people begged him for support to survive. He was washing his shoes whilst these people are asking for clean drinking water. He went there to throw them scraps, to show them his power, not to help them. This man is an elected member of the Provincial Assembly.

No need to apologise. This is the purpose of the forum, to exchange ideas and learn from each other. If you never commented, we would have not had the opportunity to let someone from outside know about this horrible problem in our country.

In your country your leaders and your officials work for the state and those who don't are punished. In our country unfortunately it's the reverse. To a man they nearly all work for themselves and their selfish desires and anyone who is the opposite of that is punished. Police officers who refuse to take bribes are often transfered to other stations, because seniors don't want an officer who won't give them a share of their corrupt income.

This is the struggle we face, this is why we cannot progress as a nation. Our people when they are outside of this system, nearly always become successful to various degrees.

Fully agree. 100 percent- a lot of Pakistan on this forum and elsewhere lead rather "sheltered lives". Living in enclaves as one of my ustads used to say.
