Agree it's almost 7% india and bengaldesh as well. I am not sure why are they upset with 80% food inflation and 42 official CORE inflation in Pakistan

I was honestly expecting worst than Turkiye which has an inflation rate of 58% and lira losing more than half its value (all before the earthquake). The inflation rate in Pakistan stands at 30-33% which is despite the fact that there were bad economic policies by both PTI and PDM governments and 1/3rd of country drowning in floods costing billions. These overnight changes were bound to happen due to IMF conditions but hopefully it will be stabilized in the short term once money will start flowing from IMF, Saudi Arabia and China but things really need to change for the long term to boost exports and they must be besides the usual rice, wheat and mangoes. We need experts and think tanks not tried and tested and inexperienced politicians who just talk and do nothing practically.

Not shocking at all. Instead there must be 1 child policy on war footing. Pakistan's population rate is the highest if not one of the highest in the world. Hand out free condoms it will give a better long term return lol or give a tax break to those who will follow this policy

Hopefully, with economic crises, many people might think about not having more kids. It might turned out to be blessing in disguise.

The man in the video has only two children. What he doesn’t have is a job to provide for his children, his wife, and himself. The massive young and cheap labor force is what the nation is going to need to industrialized and modernize the agricultural sector once the political situation is worked out. Once that gets going the birth rate will come down as education, especially female education increases. No need for draconian measures to curb the population growth. Just normal industrialization and improvement in education will do the job.

With salaries not going up and inflation spiking, the price of food needs to come down. Pakistan needs to be able to grow enough more food so people can purchase them at more affordable prices.

It would be ideal if people that had means spared more during this hard time with those that didn’t have as much (on a model similar to how the people of Medina took care of the Sahaba that came from Mecca during the Hijira), if not as charity then for repairs in the home or tutoring of children. If PTI is following the model of Medina, it should ask its most prosperous members to lead by example and organize this initiative. Other parties can do the same. If they are to compete prior to elections, let them compete in charity and good deeds.

Ideally, food supplies need to be sought, fully purchased and imported as food aid for the most needy. I would hope new seed varieties can be sought and imported ASAP, so crop yields can be increased as soon as possible. The agricultural part of CPEC need to be sped up.

We also need a plan to speed up the rehabilitation of the flood effected areas. Perhaps many people that don’t have jobs can be employed digging canals to get these areas fully useable again. NGOs could organize to pay them.

Ultimately we need political change to bring about the economic reforms we all know we need to prevent this impasse causing a mass tragedy with millions dying of starvation.
