Yeah this guy is a Catholic and he say so...Thats why I asked...

Christianity came about because of Christ. Pope is the leader of the Church, however, he is not Christ. The main argument between Christians is that some Catholics think of Pope as the representation of Christ (which I think is absurd) I can see Pope as a representation of St. Peter. I think this is what the guy meant.

Well... they merrily spend their money trying to tricking poor people into Christianity. For example, they go to a very poor place in Africa, set up a hospital, but they have a clause... "You need to be a follower of Christ to get his blessings" ... aka convert to Christianity and then come to the hospital. So i guess that is what Banana was trying to say.

I have seen missionaries giving common paracetomol to poor tribals as Jesus' wonder medicine and converting them.

There is no difference Catholics are christian doesn't matter which denomination they come from they are christian.

There is a difference between Catholic and Protestants. Martin Luther split from the Catholic church and began Protestantism for a reason. The main core of Christianity is that salvation is a free gift. Becuase Jesus paid the price on the cross for all sin past, present, and future. Also the bible says that we are saved by grace through faith in Jesus. In other words Chrsitians accept who jesus was, why he came, and believe and put into practice his teachings in their life. if they say they are Christian but don't practice his teachings they are deluding themselves.

no one is being defensive, just asking a question. while I can't speak to a particuler situation you say you witinessed. I would be very interested in knowing of a hospital that InFn-0 described.

I wouldn't be surprised about hospitals coz even in a very developed society like Hong Kong, there are missionaries everywhere in Hong Kong targeting less privileged especially Philipinos and Indonesian maids promising them jobs, marriage etc if they convert to Christianity ....

Did you read my earlier post? I said the same thing the Catholics look at the Pope or the Church for forgiveness, which very different to what we protestant believe in. Luther believed that salvation comes from above and not from some man. The reason there is a rift between many Christians and Catholics is because the way we practice Christianity, and a I think it is because of the previous Popes that lived during the age when Catholicism actually took root, many leader that followed thought of filling their pockets and even gave out certificate of forgiveness from sin in exchange of money. The Catholic church still holds many things from its past which I truly believe should be changed.
