Since then Narendra Damodardas Modi who had big hand in this genocide has been installed as chief minister, in 2002 and then in 2007.
also before that in '92 babri mosque was demolished despite the order by Indian supreme court that they would not be harmed. 150,000 - 200,000 hindus took part in demolition.
Politicians like L.K.Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi who were infamously influential in the demolition have since been instated in high positions in the government.
Secular India anyone? Sounds like India rewards people who kill Muslims, since they have no true voice in India.
BANGALORE: This Valentine’s Day, in a move that is meant to leave Pramod Mutalik and his ilk red-faced, a campaign is on to gift them with carton
loads of pink chaddis!
A “consortium of pub-going, loose and forward women”, still seething under Pramod Mutalik’s moral policing and hectoring, will collect chaddis from across the country and courier them to the Sri Rama Sena’s Bangalore office by V-Day. This is the revenge of the urban woman, ‘pink undergarment’ her symbol of annoyance.
The ‘Pink Chaddi Campaign’ was kicked off on Febraury 5 to protest the Sena’s warning against celebrating Valentine’s Day and the attacks on women in Mangalore. Though it started off in the e-world among members of a social networking group, it has now taken a life of its own and is out on the streets.
Nisha Susan, a features writer with a magazine, started this blog with the idea that it could be a forum where people could express their concern and views — particulary the disgust they feel over the recent turn of events. “On Thursday, I had an impulse that we should do something. I planned this campaign and posted it on the blog. The next morning, there were more than 600 posts and now there are over 1,500 posts from all over the world, including small towns, the US, Singapore and of course, all Indian metros. There are people from all age groups, six-year-olds to senior citizens and a lot of men too,” said Nisha.
People have signed up to drop chaddis at collection points in their cities, which will be sent to Bangalore. Those who have signed up also plan to go to pubs with their partners or friends on V-Day. Most of the members don’t drink and some haven’t ever visited a pub, but the spirit is to band together against moral policing and curbs on women’s freedom.
“We are concerned that talking about them would give them unnecessary mileage, but at the same time, we can’t keep quiet. If we ignore them, some other group will also start these political manoeuvres. They are not fools. They are political manipulators and we should give them what they deserve,” added Nisha.
The group has been aptly named ‘the consortium of pubgoing, loose and forward women’ because that is how Sena wants to project them. The campaigners do not specify if the undergarment should be new, but people interested can drop ‘pink chaddis’ at the collection box.

Bangalore: Faced with a deluge of pink underwear from women across many cities, Sri Rama Sene convener Pramod Muthalik seems to have gone weak at the knees.

No demonstrations or dharnas before pubs and other happening places on Valentine's Day, but only affectionate advice for unmarried couples... the Sri Rama Sene's sudden change of heart on Wednesday should perk up spirits of lovers here.
Muthalik told DNA, "We will not force couples to tie mangalsutras, to solemnise marriages, or a rakhi, a symbol of sibling relationship. I have instructed my workers not to trouble people, but only advice lovers humbly to get married to honour their love."
Sene workers, he said, would not indulge in violence as they never believed in violence. The purpose of creating awareness about the need to honour the institution of marriage, if a couple is in love, in accordance with Indian culture, had been achieved, he felt.
"Our campaign has made parents more alert towards their children's activities so that they could monitor and guide them in the right direction," Muthalik said.
Online activists behind the Pink Chaddi campaign are so overwhelmed with the response that they are requesting everyone to send the 'couriers' directly to Muthalik's address listed on the blog.
Benson, a contact person for the initiative, told DNA they had to shut down collection centres due to logistical issues. "So many people sent us pink chaddis that we have had to close down the centres.[/B
] The number of people who came in was beyond our expectations. There was too much chaos because of the overwhelming response," Benson said, adding that now the only thing to do was to send them directly to Muthalik's residence.
He said they had collected about 1,000 undergarments. "I don't have exact figures as they are being collected all over the country. In Bangalore, we have a few hundred, 300 more in Hyderabad, then there are centres in Pune, Delhi, Agra and Amritsar," Benson said.
Benson said they have not faced any serious threat from the Sene yet. "We've got a few calls asking us to discontinue our campaign and a few demanding a public apology. However, most people are supporting us against the Sene," Benson added.
The Bangalore police have assured the city's lovebirds, "We are here, celebrate without fear."
The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party said those disrupting the celebrations will be prosecuted under the state goonda Act. Punishment is severe under the Act, compared to the Indian Penal Code or Criminal Procedure Code.
The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, the BJP's student wing, said the Sene was protesting for publicity.
Muthalik, a former Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh man, started the Sene after he was expelled from another rightwing Hindu group, the Bajrang Dal, two years ago.
In Puducherry, the Bajrang Dal warned hotels and restaurants against organising special programmes to celebrate Valentine's Day.
Celebration of the occasion was an "utterly alien culture" and it should not be "imported" to India, A Kannan, organiser of the local unit, said. - With inputs from agencies
60 pink panties
The Mumbai collection centre collected 60 pink panties till Wednesday evening. "I expected to hit 100. I'm sure we will get that many as at least 15 women called up to say they could not make it to the collection centre at Lower Parel," said a collection volunteer.
She said the women will courier their panties directly to the Sene office in Hubli. She said that packets with panties were being sent even late at night.

Security beefed up in Mumbai for Valentine's Day
MUMBAI: In a bid to avert possibility of any untoward incident during the celebrations of Valentine's day, the Mumbai police have made adequate
security arrangements across the city, a senior official said.
"Adequate police presence will be witnessed on city roads on the Valentine's day. Everybody has the right to freedom of expression and whoever takes the law in their hands will be dealt strictly," City Commissioner of police Hasan Gafoor said.
"Those who want to protest against anything can express themselves in a peaceful manner," Gafoor said.
The security has been tightened in the wake of protest called by Shiv Sena and other organisations during the celebrations.
