I dont think most Indian members do that.. If I was to do what you say we do , I would do it the following way

As per UNDP, no. of rapes per 100,000 population in India is 1.8
As per SATP.Org, no. of terrorist related deaths in Pakistan per 100,000 population is 3.38

So getting killed in terrorist incident in Pakistan is 1.9 time more probable than it is to get raped in India..

1. gang rapes need to be counted as multiple incidences - one rape for each rapist on one victim, 2 rapes for the second rapist on the same victim and so on
2. rapes to be age-categorised
3. rapes to be graded on degree of brutality
4. rapes to be combined with homicide as one index
5. rapes that involved foreign victims

Then the statistics will not be looking the same for india

rapes have nothing to do with homocide unless they are done together....
rest of the index is already counted as you have described....

You want to change an internationally accepted statistical method used by the UNO after extensive research was conducted by that organization in developing the method? Do you have any methodical research to back your claim ?

Well in all fairness to the poster Shuttler, his suggestion isn't stupid or without logic. His suggested categorization of the various types of rapes is wide but does address specific instances whilst overlooking other more routine concerns which the UNO has categorized such as rapes in prisons which some countries don't categorize as rape but rather as sodomy. I tried checking for the report from the UNO online but wasn't able to come across it. Infact, the report classified certain first world countries as having rather high figures of rapes but these countries disguised their stats by refusing to include male on male rape in their stats, insisting rather that in their law it was defined as indecent assault or unsolicited sodomy.

I'm uncertain whether Shuttler was just trolling India since his post seems to be India specific. Hopefully he isn't since there are allegations by certain international rape watch bodies that the stats which come from China are "subdued and altered for PR purposes".

Guess you should apply for a job in UN, rise up the ranks to reach the level of senior statistician and recommend the change. Once adopted, we will follow your approach. Till then just move aside and let serious discussion continue..

But the surprising thing is that Pakistanis use rapes to pay back in the same coin to Indians despite being worse off in both Rape statistics and being a dangerous place for women.. Kind of foolish really..

So in essence say if Pakistan is allegedly worse off, then it's acceptable for the Indians to divulge in the practice besides there are many other fields in which Indians excel compared to their neighbours but they are said to be taboo topics. !!

it depends on how india stipulates the legal age for adults
the sex affairs between 2 adults are universally accepted
whereas, sex under adult's age is not legally permitted
