The quest never stops. As the tech advances, the need & requirement will further with more intention of superiority over the rival which will result in more R&D and expenditure. Yet, it is the era of 5th Gen to be matured and the need of 6th Gen is already being discussed by such big names. China has its own way of research and keep things under many wraps for long so who knows.

Height of obsession and insecurity. USA can't sustain such spending. Her economy is artificially inflated and it is on downward slope. It should rather focus on wrapping up its international war of terror against Islam and prepare for a composed role as a regional power in the future.

They need fuel for their war industry, whether it is Soviet Union, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, China, Islam, Pakistan, Iran , India etc they need someone to be the enemy so that the masses will approve of their expenditure and growth (The MORAL LAW causes the people to be in complete accord with their ruler, so that they will follow him regardless of their lives, undismayed by any danger-Sun Tzu)
