Entire NATO alliance cannot defeat Taliban and 8000 US troops in Afghanistan and India can take out Pakistan. This is not sense of optimism if USA could destroy us USA would have already done it. USA was never going to wait for any thing. USA cannot do anything about Pakistan and CPEC is giving China and Russia access to Indian Ocean and USA is worried as hell. Pakistan has just became the biggest threat to USA's existence. Why do you think Trump tweeted against Pakistan?
