I would have normally advocated for Pakistan to create a safe zone a few kms inside Afghanistan....however the corrupt Kabul elitists will probably cry to the world that Pakistan is harboring Taliban in the camps and providing medical care to the Taliban.

Pakistan doesn't need that constant dark cloud of accusations over it.

I hope the military did a good job building and fortifying that border fence...or else we are proper faked!

The fence has riled up the Americans from the beginning. So much opposition and propaganda against the fence LOL The CIA scum tried for a good 20 years. They failed so miserably.

The Yanks are so cunning. If the Yanks could give KPK to the Afghans they would have already served it on a silver platter.

Who knows, we may, one day, once we are 110% sure that Afghan soil is cleared of CIA/RAW/MOSSAD filth. This filth will not be allowed to spread terrorism inside Pakistan in guise of "refugees". The last bomb blast in Lahore was done by such "refugee".

In the meantime, America is free to airlift all these people to its mainland after creating the mess which is Afghanistan.

Let me tell you what these American fvcks are really up to. They are moving out high value assets and loyal dogs on an urgent basis. The truth is that the Americans are barely willing to accommodate even 5% of their assets. During the 20 year occupation of Afghanistan the US/NATO relied on an army of Afghan interpreters and spies. They are trying to move and scatter them across European countries. There is very little appetite even among European countries to take in Afghan refugees. There is fierce opposition among white anti-immigrant far right groups. Many in the political arena are also challenging US/EU willingness to house Afghan refugees.

So what do the Americans really want? They want to create a safe sanctuary for their lesser valuable assets in immediate neighborhood. Logistically this is obviously the best solution. That means countries like Pakistan accommodating Afghan refugees. LOL Pakistan would be crazy to take in Northern Alliance commies. Pure madness.

RS has sent hundreds of thousand of Afgan back to Afganistan from Pak in his tenure. Basically RS has made the life difficult for Afgans after Peshawar attack that they had to leave Pak. This policy was abandon under Bajwa and few people talk about this today. The AfPak border fencing was also planned and initiated by RS.

This tell us clearly that the entire security policy of Pak depends on one man i.e. army chief. Many people here compare Bajwa with Kiyani which is also very wrong. Kiyani was mediocre but Bajwa is worse.

There will be no surprise if Pak buckles under pressure and opens the border for Afgan refugees.

LOL So the Americans are seeking a temporary stay for their Afghan stooges before they fly them into their own country. The Americans are awesome at BS. The Americans will dump the Afghans and won't even look back.

WASHINGTON: The United States wants Pakistan to keep its borders with Afghanistan open for Afghan refugees, a demand that could strain already tense relations between the two countries.
“So, in a place like Pakistan, it’ll be important that their borders remain open,” said a senior State Department official while briefing journalists on the new US refugee admission programme for Afghan nationals.
“Obviously, if people go north or if they go via Iran to Turkey …(they) have an opportunity both to enter the country as well as to register with either the government or with UNHCR,” the official added.
The new programme, announced on Monday, applies to those who worked on US-funded projects and to Afghans employed by a US-based media or non-governmental organisation (NGO).

An earlier programme, known as the Special Immigration Visa (SIV), covers interpreters and others who worked for the US government agencies, and their families.
Besides Pakistan, the US State Department has also asked Turkey to allow Afghans to stay in the country for up to 14 months before they are resettled in the United States.
National Security Adviser Moeed Yusuf said at a briefing in Washington this week that arrangements should be made to keep displaced Afghans inside their country instead of pushing them into Pakistan.
“Why make them dar-ba-dar (homeless)? Make arrangements for them inside their country. Pakistan does not have the capacity to take more refugees.”
The Turkish government too has criticised the US plan to use third countries to resettle Afghans, saying the move would cause a “great migration crisis” in the region.
“We do not accept the irresponsible decision taken by the United States without consulting our country,” the Turkish Ministry Foreign Ministry said in a statement issued in Ankara.
“If the United States wants to take these people to its country, it is possible to transfer them directly to their country by planes.”
There are two countries that can play a pivotal role in this resettlement plan, Iran and Pakistan. Since the United States does not have diplomatic relations with Iran, US policy makers look at Pakistan to help them implement this programme.
Pakistan, however, appears reluctant to do so. Since 1979, Pakistan has hosted millions of Afghans and more than three million are permanently settled in the country. Pakistani officials argue that their economy is not strong enough to absorb more refugees.

The Taliban closed a key border crossing with Pakistan on Friday, saying no one would be allowed through until Islamabad dropped or relaxed its visa requirements for Afghans.

The Taliban, wresting control of Afghanistan in the wake of a withdrawal of US and other foreign troops, last month captured the southeast Chaman-Spin Boldak border crossing from Afghan forces.

Pakistan initially closed its side of the crossing, landlocked Afghanistan's second busiest entry point and main commercial artery to the sea, before reopening it last week.

In a statement on Friday, the Taliban statement called on Pakistan to scrap all visa requirements for Afghans.

"(The crossing) will remain closed for all types of commuting, including transit and trade, for both sides, and pedestrians, until the Pakistani side leaves the gate open, morning to evening, for Afghans holding [Pakistani issued] migration cards or [Afghan] ID cards," the insurgent group's shadow governor for Kandahar province said in the statement.

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said the group's leadership had endorsed the move, and on Friday the border had been closed.

Since US-led foreign troops began leaving Afghanistan earlier this year, fighting between the Taliban and Afghan forces has escalated significantly. In recent weeks, the Taliban have advanced rapidly on provincial capitals and targeted top government officials inside Kabul.

The Taliban have also taken control of several border crossings, including with Iran and Central Asian countries, but the crossing with Pakistan provides a significant customs revenue.

Ensuring it is open for visa-free travel would not only curry favour with ordinary Afghans, but also shore up a route to parts of Pakistan that have historically housed the insurgent group's fighters and part of its leadership.

Afghan government data indicates the route was used by 900 trucks a day before the Taliban seized it.

The closure could impact import of medicines and other essential goods as violence has sharply escalated in Afghanistan amidst a pandemic, with the United Nations saying hundreds of thousands have been displaced internally.

Spokespersons for Pakistan's Foreign and Interior ministries did not respond to requests for comment from Reuters.

Pakistani border officials at Chaman told Reuters the Taliban had placed concrete barriers to block the road on their side of the Friendship Gate, the crossing point between the two countries.

Many Afghans living in Pakistan have been issued migration cards by Islamabad allowing them to stay, but those who want to enter Pakistan today need to obtain a visa.
