US Vows to Hit Iran with ‘Strongest Sanctions in History’

. .
In FY 2009, the sector accounted for 60 percent of total government revenues and 80 percent of the total annual value of both exports and foreign currency earnings

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Petroleum_industry_in_Iran

That is completely different from 60% of "Iran's economy". Economic activity is measured in GDP, not government revenues or annual exports. And as far as I know, the most recent breakdown of government revenues put oil revenues at about 30% of government revenue.

Iran economy has grown tremendously throughout the sanctions since 1978...More sanction will accomplish diddly. just a US ploy to put pressure on the EU and other insignificant countries of the middle east to contribute more to the American treasury...kind of the old west bank robbery in the modern time.

If it keeps the Troublemaker for growing even more... Then all good...
Since when Iran is a trouble maker? Merzouki's Tunisia contributed a lot more to MENA Meyhem than Iran did..Iran being surrounded by the US and his Arab States pooddles...Its reaction is warranted and its actual posture was imposed on its survival.

Looks like you were wrong :D

About what? That NK will end up submitting in the end? How was I wrong, just because the two children who are running the show are slinging mud at each other and behaving like babies? That's to be expected, I mean, look at who we're talking about here.

It'll happen, there's no doubt about it. To think that something of this caliber was going to happen in 6 months without any bumps in the road is foolish.

I don't know where you got that figure and it seems way overstated in my opinion. But oil is certainly a large portion of Iran's economy.

The 4th largest oil reserves in the world after Venezuela, Canada, Saudi Arabia and its export percentage is only 30% of the total export? That's almost impossible to believe, my friend.

According to TradingEconomics, combined with gas, Iran's total oil & gas is over 80% of its total export.

Oil and natural gas are Iran's most important exports, accounting for 82 percent of the country's export revenues.

Of course... everything is good and "Legitimate"... when you don't take into consideration their actions that kept a retard playing with Hundreds of Thousands of death and exiled Millions of them...
It's like saying...French did good in ALgeria back in the days... or the US in Iraq was "Liberation"...
Or Algerian Khawarij civil war... was for survival and therefore all good and forgiven...

But I can understand... After All many thinks that "ALgerian death" back in the days... was "France" legitimate "Survival"...

"Give a stone to the poor, the Rich will praise you...Give it to them...they will curse you..."
