US updates jet-engine technology transfer policy with India

Would it be okay to say Senior Friend and Junior friend? Or Senior Ally and Junior Ally ? Does not seem to sound correct.

But I am sure we can say Senior partner and Junior partner. As you wish my friend.

That's not what I meant,

US is no-one's friend. Only nations that it can have full control / heavy influence over.

I will be happy when India made something by them self. This is not an achievement. But anyway congrats if you think its an achievement:cheers:[/QUOTE]

Thats why we are not buying just weapons we need to get all the tech and build defence industry asap so our dependency on them is none and they cant exploit in future

yup, but we still need to place huge multi billion dollars to have the tech transferred to us, I think it'll be worth it in the end, we plant a seed for our own military industry and make allies that way.

:)

Don't underestimate India , it can make everything but only under the right and knowledgeable leadership. However, it will be timely issue. This is the Only issue, we are procuring technology from foreign countries.

No nation in the world is fully self-sufficient. Yes, even the might USA....MIND IT, 95% OF RAW MINERALS COMES FROM CHINA, USED IN EVERY SINGLE ELECTRONIC.

If india want to be self sufficient (more than 80-85%), by itself, it can take more than 4-5 dacades. Creating Infrastructure alone will take a lot of time, educating and then the tuffest part is R&D. Is it possible, he'll yeah.

India will be producing, finest of the finest minds in the world, but it will take time. This govt understands it very well. Not to mention, there is a huge hole in our military gap, hence procurement is utter nessesity.

As far as ur comments about, if India made any thing by them selves..........................This shows u know nothing g about India. I will be creating a new thread, either today or tomorrow. Im sure, it will be entertaining.

I know this is wiki, but it's a start?......?...................................?.........................

The known Economic history of India begins with the Indus Valley civilization. The Indus civilization's economy appears to have depended significantly on trade, which was facilitated by advances in transport. Around 600 BC, the Mahajanapadas minted punch-marked silver coins. The period was marked by intensive trade activity and urban development. By 300 BC, the Maurya Empire united most of the Indian subcontinent. The political unity and military security allowed for a common economic system and enhanced trade and commerce, with increased agricultural productivity.

For the next 1500 years, India produced its classical civilisations such as the Rashtrakutas, Hoysalas andWestern Gangas. During this period India is estimated to have had the largest economy of the ancient and medieval world between until 17th century AD, controlling between one third and one fourth of the world's wealth up to the time of Maratha Empire, from whence it rapidly declined during European colonization.

According to economic historian Angus Maddison in his book The World Economy: A Millennial Perspective, India was the richest country in the world and had the world's largest economy until the 17th century AD.[1][2]

India has followed central planning for most of its independent history, which have included extensive public ownership, regulation, red tape, and trade barriers.[3][4] After the 1991 economic crisis, the central governmentlaunched economic liberalisation. India has turned towards a more capitalist system and has emerged as one of the fastest growing large economies of the world.[3][5]
