US to Pak: Can get back to work after Davis freed - The Times of India

PTI | Mar 9, 2011, 03.38am IST
ISLAMABAD: The US has made it clear that it can "get back to business" with Pakistan after the release of suspected CIA contractor Raymond Davis, whose arrest in Lahore on murder charges for gunning down two men has become a major irritant in bilateral ties.

During meetings with Pakistan's top leadership, US special representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan Marc Grossman said Washington wanted the immediate release of Davis and that there would be no business as usual until the matter is resolved.

"I'm confident that we can resolve this (Davis) problem and once we do we can get back to business...we can build the relationship between the US and Pakistan," Grossman said during an interaction with a group of journalists.

Pakistan's leadership, facing pressure from religious groups, has rebuffed US demands to free Davis and said that his case will be settled by the courts.

so the notion of justice for this so called civilized nation is only for its american citizen, they dont believe out side their narrow circle..

.
Yes only for him and not for the poor pakistanis dying everyday because of the drone attacks

.
Get back to work? Like CIA doing more covert oops? It will be a while then before we can get back to work, Mr. Gassman.

.
if the us is committed to its citizens, to protect them from their guilt, then pakistan is also committed to its citizens, providing justice to the grieving families, the guy has been found guilty, and court will decide his fate independently, disregarding any american pressure...

I dont think pakistan government has any other alternative now. They need the states and the states wont bite unless davis is released.

Tin Man..I dont think pakistan government has any other alternative now. They need the states and the states wont bite unless davis is released.

This is what you think.

This what is going on, Pakistani Govt is extremely Pro US, by now they would have given raymon davis terrorist murderer to US but its out of their hands as Army has pressurized Govt and the case hangs in the Court, lets watch..

. . . .
It is the Taliban and al Qaid inside and all around Pakistan suicide and car bombings killing innocent Pakistanis daily.

Your youthful lack of understanding of international law and Diplomatic Immunity, coupled with your inability to see Mr. Davis is the victum of a failed robbery, stick up attempt, but two known crooks is unhelpful to dealing with the public, up front truth, not all this concocted stuff that the sensationalist media in Pakistan, aided and abetted by immature opinions seeking someone to "blame" leaves you wanting to blame the victum for being the victum. Not logical at all.

.
As I said right or wrong Pakistan has to know its limits in dealing with the US. Over react and you are only shooting yourself in the feet.

.
Pakistan shouldn't release Davis and he should undergo trial as per normal norms.USA is overreacting.
