BD is secular and no law can prescribe any religious test, doesn't mean an atheist like me has as much chance as any other person. Yes, definitely US is changing for the better as is BD but current facts are current facts. Just by being an atheist, you almost eliminate your chance to be president of the US or even senator of most states. US really isn't nearly as inclusive as Canada in many cases as you would like to believe.

Guessing because they wanted better economic situation. You would be surprised how much people can brush aside racism, sexism, bullying and not realise how much of an idiot the person is if he is promising you a better economic future for your family. Economy is the main driving force for most voters, then there's vote by the racist and sexist for the racist and also there's vote for candidates because of them being either gay or minority or female.

2016 is an election where the progressives in many cases didn't go out to vote because they were not impressed by Hillary while racist got out to vote for racism or as I said, many people did it because their economic situation were bad and would vote for anyone with any baggage as long as they promise to be anti establishment and propose economic prosperity.
