Washington, March 29: The United States says it is talking with India and China among others as part of diplomatic efforts to isolate Russia over its annexation of Crimea, but it had not yet asked them to impose any sanctions. "Well, I don't think we're there yet. Obviously, we've been consulting very closely with the Europeans about sanctions," State Department spokesperson Marie Harf told reporters Friday when asked if the US was going to seek Iran-oil like sanction from countries outside NATO. "We have been talking with other countries diplomatically, though," she said noting that in the Security Council vote last weekend, "it was significant that China, for example, abstained and did not vote with Russia". "So, we are actively working on the diplomatic side to isolate Russia and that means with countries like China and India and others," she said. "But on the oil part, we're just not there yet." In response to another question, Harf expressed disappointment over India abstaining from US-sponsored resolution against Sri Lanka at the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva. "It is disappointing to us that India abstained from voting on this resolution when they voted yes for the last two years," she said. "We have made our disappointment known to Indian officials. Beyond that, I'd refer you to them in terms of how they voted," Harf said.

Russia cannot be isolated simply because it's a world power today and has many allies who depend heavily on the Russian economy and military might!

Very true, Russia is too powerful right now to be isolated.

They are already self-sufficient in terms of oil/gas, and they can easily export it to the East instead of the West. In fact China and Russia already have pipelines set up a while back.

I hope we are too busy to talk again.

Few countries stand up to the threat of US sanctions : the costs typically exceed the benefits. But India has refused to co-operate even in a USITC visit to New Delhi, saying its bureaucrats are too busy with other things. India has told the US that WTO rules provide for all members to settle patent disputes through that body, not through unilateral action. India is confident that its IPR rules are WTO compliant. For that very reason, the US has avoided WTO, and is attempting bilateral pressure instead.

so now USA is going to India and China to isolate Russia, lol joker at its best. Even few months ago, so much anti-China, anti-India activies and now it thinks they will forget it. Messing with so many countries at a time will not lead you in good position,
USA is acting like dumb kid
