India could have joined the trilateral alliance which Russia had proposed and there would have been no problem with China like they are doing now(big incursions in India ).

India is currently diversifying is defence purchases and platforms at the same time focusing on improving its indigenous capabilities. A worthy and effective strategy in my opinion.

We have broken free of any Russian strangle hold and now engage them as an equal. We engage US too with caution, they way we need to.

You are certainly entitled to your points of view but many of us think that India-US coming closer is not a bad thing. India should not be putting her eggs in any one basket & there is no logic that would suggest that sticking purely with the Russian basket would be beneficial. There are huge purchases from U.S. & Israel, as there are from the French and as they certainly are from the Russians. Nothing, other than an inherent bias would suggest that this is not a reasonable position to take.

What position should India have taken on Syria? Openly support a regime accused of Chemical warfare against its own people? What if the next Syrian government remembers that? we need to take no position, we have for far too long acted as if we the moral repository of the world. Time to shut up & mind our own business for a change and that would be to put our interests first. And last.
